It's on sale today at Steam. The DRM works fine for me when I tried it with the Hawx 2 benchmark.

IMO no its not. I bought AC1 and AC2 and was very dissapointed in both of them.
Such an awesome premise and ideas, but the story sucks, characters are boring and the gamepaly gets very very repetative. The only thing that I thought was really well done in thsi game was the graphics, very beautiful.
Its like everything is there to make a great game but it just didnt do it for me. I wanted to like both this and the first one so bad, but just got very bored of both games, felt like I was forcing myself to finish em.
At the same time though, this is just my honest opinion, a bunch of my friends love the series, its easy to pick up and play and learn, so ya never know.
I would also like to add that just because you got on well with the DRM during a benchmark test doesn't mean you won't run into problems with the DRM during a game you will be playing for hours on end. I don't like to advise people on whether they should or should not buy a game but personally even at the cheap price steam are offering Assassins Creed 2 I don't believe it is worth the money principally because of the DRM.
I've never had an issue with the DRM, but if your internet connection isn't stable or reliable it might be a problem at times. I personally enjoyed the story, the characters, and the setting. It's true that the gameplay does get repetitive but it's a lot better than the first AC in that regard. I think it's definitely worth it at $15, plus Brotherhood will be coming out on PC within the next few months.
Yes, definitely worth it even with DRM (rarely a problem with a half decent internet connection). Heck i even bought brotherhood for full price on the 360 because i enjoyed AC2 so well
I don't know what to make of AC:B at all. I was all for the implementation of Multiplayer, but making an entire new game just to incorporate it. I am yet to play the story, I'm waiting till i get the PC version, but in my opinion Ezio's story should have ended with AC2. As for the multiplayer? I played a bit at my friends house, and whilst it is entertaining, I can see it getting very repetitive, and is really not how I imagined it to be.I've never had an issue with the DRM, but if your internet connection isn't stable or reliable it might be a problem at times. This is a game which should be bought for the single player, not multiplayer.
the story also has a fair portion dedicated to desmond

Hmm. My little brother got it as a gift this year, i'll probably go try it as his place before deciding on whether or not it's worth picking up once it's released on PC. I've heard that it's mostly gotten good reviews.
