Enjoyed it immensely on consoles, but I never did get it for PC. Is it still worth getting?

I think you can find a BF3 + Premium bundle for $60 somewhere. I think that is worth it until BF4 comes out. 64 player games will really change how you play it.

Plenty of full servers. Numbers are still high.
No, of course not. It's best played on a Playstation 3. Reason being, you have VoIP on the PS3 version so you can communicate with your team more efficiently, and they have designed the frostbite engine within the limitations inherent with consoles, so it runs very poorly on the PC in general. This is coming from somone who spent over 200 hours on the PC version of Bf3 before I came to this conclusion. This is also coming from somone who is a fan of all Battlefield games since the beginning, except for Bad Company which is shit.SKaREOGood troll post

it runs fairly well even on my laptop, when other newer titles struggle to keep solid framerate... so i don't know what you spent that 200 hours doing in that game...

I'd say.. only if you could find the Premium Edition (not premium only), for like $15-20. Keep in mind, DICE is no longer updating the game, shifting focus to BF4. So don't complain when things aren't fixed even though DICE doesn't fix things anyways, but end up breaking things more /rant. It's true though. I'd strongly suggest getting it if it's dirt cheap and you will have friends playing with ya. It's quite boring playing alone.Elann2008idk, im enjoying it a lot and im playing it alone
My personal opinion: It never was worth getting. I got it at launch and was sorely disappointed. I've always felt that way about Battlefield games though, but this one in particular seems to have too many issues. If you enjoy Battlefield, get it.Â

Despite putting about 200 hours into the game, there are some disappointments. Mainly with the stupid "effects" in the game... like tactical lighting (blocking bullets), server lag (not client side), suppression effects. I heard that the game wasn't even designed and coded properly for anything more than 18 players (even on PC). So those big 48-64 player maps are going to lag no matter what. Ultra settings causes stuttering for SOME people. Which is also stupid especially if you have a high-end PC. Â Two people can't knife at the same time on a map. Â DICE recognized it, said they fixed it, but it's still broken. Â
No built in VOIP, no Commander. Â 4-man Squad isn't efficient because with certain number of players on a given map, some are left squad-less because Admin doesn't have a clue how to divide. BF4 going with 5-man squad is more ideal. Â People count better in 5's, and 10's. Â Â
I want tracer darts again, like in BC2. Â Make the infantry demolition/engineer players viable again. Â
Another thing I do not like is EA screwing customers who purchased the game day one, or near day one launch date. Â We all ended up having to pay more to get expansion DLCs. Â For me, I had to spend $90 for BF3, while people who purchased BF3 a year later only had to pay $50-60, or on sale $20-30 for premium edition. Â No matter which way you look at it, that's wrong in many ways. Â EA giving the shaft to the customers. Â For the most part, I like DICE, they gave us BF2, BC2, which were very good games so it's hard not buying a BF game on day one or near day one. Â
This separated the community a good deal. Â DICE needs to strengthen the PC community on BF.
Don't get me wrong, those are some gripes, but the game has quite a bit of positives. Love the guns. Huge variety of guns and weapons to unlock. Game runs great performance wise (not including server performance). Gunplay and gun mechanics are excellent. Level of destruction is underrated. It's done in a more detailed way than BC2. With friends, it's a blast. Riding bikes, strapping C4 to demolish tanks is newb-fun. :-P
Client-side hit detection is great. Â This is a huge plus.
Pros and cons aside, 200+ hours was worth the $90 I guess. Â It's one of those games like Counter-Strike that is highly accessible, and fun to play here and there.
idk, im enjoying it a lot and im playing it alone You should not always play it alone! Which maps do you usually play? Just curious.[QUOTE="Elann2008"]I'd say.. only if you could find the Premium Edition (not premium only), for like $15-20. Keep in mind, DICE is no longer updating the game, shifting focus to BF4. Cool man. My favorite is conquest too. :D imo dice doesnt ruin battlefield but rather its the playerbase seeking the cheapest ways to win personnaly by getting higher scores or for the whole team. thats my opinion on the matter. and then DICE hands out nerfs which force imbalances and whiners, and dead maps and etc. /rant i could go on. i also blame EA because origin is sh!tty and so is any other attempt they have made to improve the monetization of what is possibly the best franchise they hold dominion over.i rememebr trying to get bf2142:NS installed, whats a sh!t storm that was!

I failed to mention that in my earlier post. The boosters, the hackers, subtle or obvious, are out there. Even the ones that are not "technically" cheating, they play for stat-padding which is so dumb. The game is fun, no need for that.[QUOTE="Elann2008"][QUOTE="ionusX"] me mainly conquest and rush maps the map itself doesnt bug me ill play any of them, which is why i love the quickmatch feature :D conquest is literally the reason i fell in love with battlefield in the first place, my 1st game was BF: vietnam, from there i went to 2142 and 2:MC. i then went to BFBC 1 & 2 and i picked up bf2 to experiment a little bit. and now im on bf3

I got BF3 last night, runs great on my rig, Ultra on all settings on 1920x1080p, consistent 60+ fps w/ vsync
I got the bundle for $25 on Amazon. Probably they will have the bundle at the same price on the Summer Sale.I think you can find a BF3 + Premium bundle for $60 somewhere. I think that is worth it until BF4 comes out. 64 player games will really change how you play it.

Personally, I'd never buy a MP-focused game at the end of its cycle. BF4 is coming out in a few months and most likely BF3 will be forgotten.
Well.. DICE has forgotten BF3. They are no longer updating the game. Unless you're really itching to play BF3, then go for it. But like I said before, only if you could find the premium edition on sale for $20. I've seen it on Amazon.com during a sale at this price several times.Personally, I'd never buy a MP-focused game at the end of its cycle. Not sure if they are still running the promo, but bf4 preorder grants you premium.
If anyone has bf3 alrdy, than we should all squad up.
I would love to play with some people. A lot less fun when I'm going blindly from one server to another.

Add my origin id: KoreanAssault. Actually my friends bf3 account, but he doesn't play the game lol.

Usually there are around 50-60k players at peak, PS3 had 60-70k, xbox 60-70k to this day. So its very sustainable. Its the divinity experiance on PC, 64 players, better graphics/FPS[QUOTE="Chris_53"]Game is fun on PC, most of the time, though, sadly it is full of aimbots skrat_01Dat Punkbuster. I don't think it has ever been good. PB is useless. And I don't throw that word around easily. Hackers, aimbots, you name it. And EA doesn't enforce their rules. Reporting cheaters is pointless.
More like $25. It's always going on sale somewhere, both the base game and the "premium" package.I think you can find a BF3 + Premium bundle for $60 somewhere. I think that is worth it until BF4 comes out. 64 player games will really change how you play it.
