Thanks for the link, it was some pretty interesting reading.
Its really suprising the rapid speed at which better quality graphics cards have been coming out onto the market these past few years.
At least two new revolutionary graphics cards are released every year. Maybe I just don't pay enough attention to these things.

Great link!
With respect to the 90's I would have to say 3DFX's Voodoo 2 takes the crown. I went gaga over this graphics card when I was a kid. The only problems was that it required a 2D graphics card because it could only do 3D but the performance it offered was insane, even nVidia's RIVA TNT that was released later in 1998 couldn't take the performance crown. And putting two Voodoo 2's in SLI would get you even more performance.
My second favorite graphics card from the 90's would have to be nVidia's Riva 128 ( I played on the ZX model which offered 8MB, yes 8MB! 4MB more from the standard RIVA 128 version). I remember playing Quake 2, Incoming, Turok Dinosaur Hunter, Grim Fandango, Forsaken, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit (the original one), NFL Blitz. Best of all it didn't require an additional 2D graphics card, it did 2D/3D in a single RIVA 128 GPU.
Ahh the memories. Great times! :)
