I've never played it. Also, I'm going to get either Empire Earth or Homeworld 2, but can't decide which one :S.
Thanks for the help ^^

like most/all molyneux games, it's full of great ideas, and some amazing stuff - not to mention the visuals, which were utterly top class when the game came out
but like most/all molyneux games, you'll play for a bit, then ask - great, so where's the game? b&w is a brilliant experience, and i guarantee you'll enjoy it (not a guarantee), but after you've experienced all the core elements (ai, visuals, having a giant cow that eats poop), you will realise that there isn't an actual game to tie it all together, and you'll probably quit - feeling a little satisfied, and a little cheated, but overall pleased you experienced it
as for homeworld 2 or empire earth - buy homeworld 2 right now, and keep an eye on empire earth 3
B&W was excellent, I got bored with the expansion though. B&W 2 was also excellent, I still play it sometimes.
Empire earth was basically Age of Empires but with unlimited resources & more "Ages".
I haven't played HW2 but the first Homeworld was amazing. Not bad gfx even now & an excellent RTS with a difference. I'd recommend HW1 to anyone. I'm gonna look for HW2 now on Play.com or Amazon. You just reminded me of a game I always meant to buy, lol.
lol black and white was awesome, and when the multiplayer was available it was just SO !!! GREAT !!!
black & white 2 was really bad, they made it too simple and the lost the spirit of the game...
just don,t buy any of those .... i would have recommanded you B&W, but there isn't any support for multiplayer anymore, so it losts it's crazy fun
I'm really just reiterating a lot of what's already been said...
Black and White is an interesting game to start off. It's cool to play as a god, and it starts off feeling like it has an interesting basis for the gameplay, but as you get into it... you realize the game basically boils down to you and your creature. Yes, there is this RTS element of managing your town(s) so that your influence expands, that way you can perform miracles (magic) elsewhere on the map and what not, but it's very mediocre. And the story, well I mean, it's not really a story.
In the first Black and White, good versus evil turns into will you kill your enemy's towns to destroy his influence or attempt to take them over with 'virtuous' deeds, and the second one improves upon this in some ways. The evil part is no longer just you killing your enemies with your miracles or direct actions (throwing rocks) but you can now recruit armies and go wreak havoc with them, which I thought was cool. The good part was more of 'lets build a huge, cool city and everyone else will want to come here'. I never really got into being good because it didn't appeal to me, but it didn't appeal to me in the first one either. However, certain parts of the game are worse than the first one. Whereas in the original your creature grew as time passed and you had to teach him miracles and actions, the second one overly simplifies it with you buying him actions, abilities and attributes with 'tribute', and I thought that was an unnecessary cop out.
Not that I'm trying to be overly negative, I really kind of like both games, but as mfsa said, you really end up asking for more from the game and it just doesn't deliver.
Edit: sp and what not
Edit 4: I'm too much of a perfectionist with my posts.

No way in heck I would get 2. If you played 1, it is such a let down. I play Black and White 1 more than I do 2 now a days.
