Is Crysis the most overrated PC game?

I think that the game is not that great looking and definitely is not a great game in other aspects.

The only thing that Crysis does well is eat as many resources from your PC as possible, forcing most to buy another graphics card or CPU.

1. Yes, it's overrated. That said, it's still a pretty good game and holds up years after its release.
2. To me, the game was the best looker years ago, but it's been surpassed. Granted, some of the modded versions look stunning, but the praise for the vanilla version just isn't justifiable anymore, especially when Crysis 3 came out.

to be honest Diablo 3 seems to only overrated by critics, lots of fans don't seem to think too highly of it

The original Crysis had some of the best gameplay I've found in an FPS, for the first few levels at least. Crysis 2 should have been buried in a fissure and several tons of explosives set off to ensure that no one had to suffer through the game, ever. Crysis 3 had some very impressive graphics, but the gameplay was still nowhere to be found.

I'd say it is it's not a bad game, but its greatness is very overstated.

Gunplay, enemy type/synergy, story, sound design, indoor areas; all pretty mediocre.

According to the internets every great game is overated, so these arguements are pointless. 

Gamespot should just replace the "editors choice" text for games that score a 9.0 and above with "overated" and get it over with. 

The game doesn't seem all that amazing.

It has nice graphics... but the AI seems pretty bad from what I've seen.

Whenever something is great, people always whine "oh it's SOOO overrated, GTA is overrated, and Metal Gear, and Halo, and blah blah blah because I have different opinions."

So no it is not, Crysis is not a perfect game, but nobody made it out to be. It's just a fun, pretty game that offers open ended combat and some beautiful graphics.

I think it's one of the most underrated games of recent years. Too many people just concentrated on graphics, assuming it's merely a tech demo, while in reality it's excellent FPS full of ambitious desin goals. Most of which Crytek succeed in realizing.

IDK about most overrated but its def highly over rated. Only area that crysis deserves praise in is graphics and nothing else imo. The first game was very average and bland imo gameplay and story wise and the open world aspects aren't as great as people make them out to be.  The graphics are excluded of course. That's basically the whole theme of the series. Id be willing to bet though that if history was redone and crysis was released with average graphics we wouldnt even be having this discussion.

Personally I loved Crysis right up until the stupid alien crap. Bioshock is my idea of overrated.

It's one of the greatest games of this generation. Still the best looking game out there.

Once I had gotten over the thrill of incredible graphics and blasting trees apart, it was pretty darn boring. The later parts of the game were horrible.

Crysis the first one is the greatest shooter ever made IMO. Its not the graphics its the gameplay and openess of the world. That tank level has to be the best level design of any shooter. Crysis is in a league of its own, not many shooters can give you the gameplay and gunplay that Crysis presented. To me it best out HL2 as best shooter. HL2 had a better story elements but Crysis story wasnt as bad as people say it was. HL2 had better weapons but the gameplay was very basic and Valve added little puzzles to throw you off. Crytek should have made a Prophet standalone like it did with Psyhco with the same game engine since Prophet had the better adventure out of both of them.

I loved the first HL...was amazing for it's time. HL2 felt like a engine demo to me.

Only FPS I play now BF3 and BO2 but to be honest I spend most my game time with MMOs.

I also really like Ghost Recon and Rainbow 6 back in the day.

Oh...I like what I have played of Farcry 3 but I have not finished it yet.

I think HL2 is a good game, but still think it is overrated.

I think Crysis is a bit overrated, yes.  It's still a very good game, as is Warhead.  They both deserve ratings over an 8.0.  They are still very good-looking games, albeit resource-hungry.  Crysis 2 is not that good.  It's not terrible, but I wouldn't give it anything higher than a 7.0 or 7.5.  With the DX11 updates, it looks pretty spectacular at times.  I've yet to play Crysis 3.  That shows how much my interest dwindled after the direction they went with C2.
