It's what ever you can afford, but rule of thumb is always go a size bigger then you question. I'd say 50-55" will do you good if you can swing it.

It depends on seating position, 14x20ft means nothing if you are sat 6ft from the TV. If you are sat at the back either 14 or 20ft away then ideally you want 50+.

If you are sitting 20 feet from the screen you'll need a telescope to see what's going on 42".

from 20 feet you can probably fit a 200".

from 14".. a 150"

those numbers were just a rough estimate.. but I did research and checked the real numbers lol.

14" = 125"

20" = 180"

so yeah, your dimensions are greater than any size of TV... even the largest 152" Panasonic 4KHD TVs will fit into that room :D

so you could definitely go for a projector ^^

anyways, if you go for a tiny ass 42" you should sit 4.7 feet from the screen.

50" = you can sit 5.6 feet from the screen.

So by all means.. go 60+ or go for a projector @ over 100 inches.

Nope, plasmas have much better contrast and colours. If you're sitting 3 feet from the TV i'd say 42" is more than enough.

They do not have "much better", by all means LCD/LED's have damn near caught up. The problem is given equal PQ, LED's are far more expensive.

agreed 3 feet is close, 42" is dandy. If you go LED, do not get the edge lit models. Otherwise, get Plasma

Yes, much better. Colors are more accurate, picture is smoother, and the contrast is much better as well. The "localized dimming" lcd tech was probably just a means to throw a number on a piece of paper, because in reality it creates more problems.

Oh dear.. First of all.. big NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. plasma's have vastly superior picture quality per dollar. Roughly twice the image for half the cash is to expected. Second of all. DO NOT quote contrast ratios given by a manufacturer.. just ignore any "dynamic" or "native" or "true" contrast ratio you read/hear from an electronics store or the TV manufacturers themselves. THat LG has NO WHERE NEAR a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio but instead some where around 1000:1.. or less.

False. plasma's do have "much better" picture. Deeper black levels, higher ANSI contrast ratios, better motion resolution, lower input lag, more accurate colours and gamma. How is that not much better? And LED/LCDs have "damn near caught up"? That's wrong as well.

The gap between plasma quality and LCD quality has widened further than ever before. Back in 05-07 it was a damn hard choice choosing between an LCD and a plasma. Sony and Samsung LCDs were as good as any plasma but the old Pioneer Kuros. in 2009-2011 plasma was the obvious choce offering better picture for less money, and now plasma is so far ahead high end LEDs are lagging behind mid range plasmas. I'l agree on the part about edge lit models. Edge-LED is garbage, backlit LED from Philips and Sony is pretty damn good, but its so expensive. Last year's Philips flagship performed ALMOST as well as Panasonic VT30 and Samsung PND8000, but cost twice as much as a 50/51" and was only 46" !!!

Size is largely a matter of preference. While many people will espouse the notion that bigger is better, it is not always the case. In fact, many people often find it can be too big, and would prefer a more appropriate size for the space. What were we talking about again? Boz

Bigger IS better :cool: ALWAYS Unless you're sitting closer than the THX recommended distance.. but sitting 3 feet from a 32" is NOT the same as sitting 10 feet from 100" or 25 feet from a 220".

Which Panasonic plasma? I definitely recommend the Panasonic UT50. I don't know where you live, but I'm definitely certain that the 50" would cost well over $600. So perhaps you are referring to the X50 which I can't really recommend. The 42" UT50, should cost around $600 mark. Extremely deep black levels, a very good contrast ratio etc. If your only 3 feet away a 50" is too big, even 42" is a little too big :p
