I'd hold off and see what the HD4870 and 9800GTX+ have to offer first. Unless you really can't wait.

I don't know why people even consider the 9800GTX+. Even if it's a slightly better than an OC'd 4850, it's freaking huge and sucks up a ton of juice. Much smarter to go for the 4850 at this point, imo. Wait for a week or two when the 4870 and 9800GTX+ hit. I'd probably say go for the 4850/70. Some of these systems draw as much power as an AC unit... the electricity bills don't pay themselves. Unless you don't care, then go for it :D

The 4870 resulted being amazing.

Slightly slower than the GTX280 for half the price.

If you really can't wait, just get another 8800GT, they're great cards.
And if you're looking for something OTHER than what you had... i'd go w/ 4850 (unless you wanna dish out for the 4870)

They both consume about the same amount of power and my highly overclocked 9800gtx tops out at like 66c.

the res I play at is 1600x1200 so I guess I would be happy, I didnt want to shell out money for a videocard if it wasnt 50% better then the one I have also this 8800GT I am giving to my brother.

The 170$ Asus HD4850 beats an overclocked 9800gtx, so no need to wait. :p
