Is SPORE an MMO?

I thought SPORE was going to be a next-gen MMO...

But, latest info doesn't mention an interactive aspect with other live players... has it become just a strategy sim?

It was always set up to be a strategy sort of game. Never a MMO of any sort.

No one ever said it was going to be an MMO. Its a single player games, with other users creations downloaded onto your game if you wish.

Theres an "mmo-ish" component to it in that it can be set up to automatically download other people's creations and it will populate your game with the cities and creatures that other people made as well as populate some of their worlds with the cities and creatures you've made.

This is all done without ever interacting with another person and doesnt require an internet connection. Well, it does to download the data and it does so when you are online, but if you arent connected you can play it as normal.... You just dont get other people's creations and rely just on the random computer generated creatures and cities.

Its more accurate to say Spore has a social networking aspect, like MySpace or Flickr, than an MMO.

The "social networking" approach is good enough for me. :) I can't wait for it. :D

Will it be very demanding spec-wise?

It will be interesting to see if the download feature is fun. It has potential because I think other people are going to come up with much crazier creatures than the computer.

Spore isn't a RTS spore is mixture of other things and completely new things all rolled into one genera SPORE.

As there is no genera ever that can describe it!

And i hope you understand now after about 500000000000 posts that spore isn't a mmo but a MSO this is a crucial aspect of the game.

Just ask anybody who played Creatures 3 if it was fun. It's been almost a decade and it still ahs a very active fanbase. People love the idea that their creations can expand outside their orginal lab and thrive on other, random machines. Spore is simply put, Creatures 4 EXTREME. Not only will we be able to make our own creatures, raise them, let them evovle based on their enviroment, and share them with others, but we will get to shape the enviroment, and do all the great micor/macro management things that Mr. Wright normaly ads to a game.
