Hey... I am new to being 80 in WoW, and I have never needed anyone to craft anything for me... I was just curious if there was a way to safely have someone craft something for me?

I want to have someone make somethng for me, and it was around 2300g in materials... I am not made of money and don't have 500kg like everyone else, so I can't afford to throw away 2300g... So is there a way to insure my stuff or something like that so the guy I find to craft the thing for me doesn't just take my stuff and leave or make the item and keep it himself?

Thanks

nah. right now, and as always, there isnt really a 'safe way' to give people your stuff and have them craft it so theres definitely rules to prevent things like that from happening. in my 4 years of playing, i never had that happen to me.

Because it's not. Just ask people from well known guilds on your server. They won't risk their reputation by scamming poor people.

Despite what people on this board might tell you when it comes to crafting the majority of people you deal with in WOW are pretty good.

I've played WOW since TBC and never had anything taken from me during a trade. If you are really concerned though just ask someone in your guild that you trust to do it.

As you keep playing though you will become familiar with people on your server though and who is trustworthy and who might not be.

Make it clear to the person when you're trading with them, what you're trading for and with. Then if they steal your money and mats you just talk to a GM and they'll return your stuff and suspend the theiving gypsy.

nope, contrary to popular belief, WoW's in-game support is incredible. They can track and backtrack any transactions down to trade, chat, and anything.

I once had my account hacked and had a lot of stuff vendored (like an entire tank set for my paly, a ton of ore and gems...basically everything) and they asked me "Did you have anything stolen?"

I replied "Yea, pretty much my entire tank set armor and a lot of crafting materials" and four days later they gave me exactly what was taken from me.

Now, as for your question: do not worry about it, most people in WoW are not going to screw you over. And the guys that would like to are so into WoW they would never jeopardize their accounts with a bannable offense such as that.

It's not a banable offense to jack someone's **** in a trade, it's a dick move, but you absolutely can not be banned for it. One person will say the guy stole items, the other guy will say he traded them to me, without a 3rd party involved (IE: hacker) there's no way to prove any wrongdoing. But as others have said usually the well known guilds will help people out.

I find this hilarious coming from a game like Darkfall, where I can be killed and fully looted at any time.

That sounds like punishment, not fun. Anyway, this is about trade for services and being scammed. It's just like being an ass on a server in any game and getting banned for it. It's completely justifiable.

It's not false at all. I've had it happen to me, and the GM returned my items within 2 days. All chats can be looked up, they SEE you asked said person to make something, and there is also a history of trades and mails sent and received. I've been directly told this by the GM that fixed my issue, it's one of the ways they catch massive gold farmers also, tracking the trades between accounts.

ok not bannable, but suspendable.

And yes, there is a way to tell...Blizzard. As I said, they can recall whatever they like in order to settle disputes.

The fact that Blizzard has the resources and desire to solve these problems just leaves me in awe. Most mmorpg developers would never bother. In my opinion, the lesson he would learn by getting his stuff stolen is worth more than anything he possibly could have lost.

I always took several screenshots before I traded some serious gold/mats to someone I didn't know. I first get the screenshot of them acknowledging they were going to do whatever it is and then i get a screenshot of the trade window all setup before you hit the final TRADE button. I guess I would SS more images if it went bad after that, but luckily I never had a problem. Best advice though is trade with someone in a reputable guild and armory them (or if there is a faster way these days) to make sure they have that profession at high level.

The smart thing to do would be to trade something of "equal value." That way if they decide to run off with your materials, you have something of theirs of equal value. More than likely, when you trade this way, they will not run off.

Lets see...

1) Be sure to say in the chat that you want them to craft something for you.

2) Are they in a known guild. Be sure that they are high level.

3) You might want to consider taking a screenshot inscase you do get scammed to send to their Guild Master (most people dont like or want people that scam)

I have NEVER had anything stolen from me in wow. Nor have i ever taken anything... And i have probably had a few hundred things crafted for me. The community is not as bad as people say :P
