Firstly i live in canada, so the prices are much higher. I saw this computer at futureshop and was truly amazed. When i added up all the partson tigerdirect.ca and newegg.ca, it costs MOREto build it yourself!

It is called theThe Gateway FX6801-09h, heres a link:

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10124869&catid=27564&logon=&langid=EN

Ok if your too lazy here are specs.

Nvidia GTX 285 graphics card

12 gb of ddr3

1tb hard drive

intel core i7 2.66

windows vista 64 bit

and all for 1600$. This is a good buy right?

GPU-450

I7-310

hard drive-110

ram-250

thats 1120! not inluding motherboard and powersupply!

for an i7mobo we are talking 350-500 dollars and for a psu 100+.. Also no case or any extras like the 2 disc reader/writers.....etc. And thats all tax free....

i was trying to build a computer for myself on newegg.ca too and then i saw that computer yesterday and was like wtf that's better than what im building for the same price.

well BEFORE tax, u might be able to build a cheaper computer. first of all u dont need 12 gb of ram, u can get 6GB for close to $100 CAN.

my build so far includes:
i7 920 - $310
evga mobo - $275
Patriot Viper 6GB - $140
mouse/keyboard - $25
4.1 speakers - $40
PSU - $115
GTX 275 - $250
ASUS 21.5" monitor - $180
western digital 1TB 7200rpm HD- $105
Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower - $120
sony burner - $33

and my total comes up to $1590 and that includes a monitor and speakers. Ofcourse u can also upgrade to a GTX285 for $150 more and it will still be cheaper than the futureshop computer and a monitor. so i guess it just comes down to what parts u pick. Plus u probably wont be able to OC since its gateway and its mobo might not support it. also it doesnt have hdmi

if i put a gtx 285 it is same price as that pc, but why drop the ram when i can have it anyways.

I dont overclock so its fine for me, i plan on picking it up. Just wanted to see if any other canadians had better deals first.

go get it, i cant agrue its at a good price.

edit: u can build one for bascially the same price or maybe $50 cheaper but its canceled out by the shipping and i believe futureshop has free shipping with something of that price. so overall its basically if u wanna build it urself or buy it prebuilt.

$1022 + tax = just a little bit worse performance.

Don't buy a 12GB RAM kit, just buy like 2 6GB RAM kits for $150 less....

What are the case and motherboard like? Does it come with the intel stock cooler? What PSU do you get with this deal?

that 12gbs of ram is sooo overkill, i have a similar build to that but i have a 64bit os and a gtx 295, minus the keyboard and mouse and monitor, my whole build came out to 1500 canadian, thats all taxes paid im out the door, where as with that computer youd be look at around 17-1800 when taxes are paid and such, and then theyll try to push the warranty on you so that build may end up coming to 2000 when your out the door, and thats still okay for retail but it would be cheaper to build it yourself definately still, good deal though if you dont want to bother learning everything about building a pc
