I currently have this set-up

Intel Pentium E5200 Dual-Core @2.5GHz

Nvidia GeForce 8800GTS512.

4gb ram

400w Corsair PSU

I was thinking about getting a 5770. Would it make a big difference over my 8800GTS? Or is my processor gonna weigh it down to the point where I will see no increase?

Get the 5770 and OC the CPU and you'll be fine.

Don't get 5770,save some money and get 5850 it will be a fantastic upgrade. And your cpu gonna bottleneck it a bit but not a big deal as your fps will be high enough not to notice it.

How would he save money getting a 5850 ($300) instead of a 5770, which is less than $200.

You should look at, IMHO, upgrading your CPU and motherboard as well as your PSU. You still have a decent GPU for games that are being released.

Totally agree, I'm still using that same card and it's maxing every game that's been/being released. Only game is Crysis:Warhead that gives me problems.

Well i am saying save $100 more and get the 5850,it will be worth it,considering his rig is still good enough and it wouldn't hurt wait a little.
