Is Warcraft IV neccessary and would you want to see it happen?

With World of Warcraft being so successful, I wonder if Blizzard would even do another Warcraft RTS game?

Anyone else like to see a Warcraft IV with today's modern graphics? I think Warcraft III still holds up well today because Blizzard's art style has that certain lasting aesthetic to them. But still, with games like Company of Heroes, Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth II, and Command and Conquer 3 showing how amazing RTS's can look, I wonder how cool Warcraft IV would look with this level of graphical quality?

Anyway, just wondering what everyone else would think about this? If not a Warcraft IV, perhaps Blizzard can do another expansion pack to Frozen Throne.

They're Making Starcraft II arent they why not Warcraft IV.One of the First Great Games I played on the PC, damn i Felt like jumping off a cliff when I saw World of Warcraft, which has completely whored out the Series.No Im not one of those Crazy Ignorant WoW-Bashers, but I will Say, that if I could go back in time, I would strike each guy at blizzard over the head with a baseball bat to prevent them from making WoW, So I Hope and Wish that they will restore this Fantasy Series to its Good RTS Roots, but Hope is ever hardly enough, unfortunately:(.

It's not necessary, but yes, I would want to see it happen.

However, I'm more excited about SC2 at the moment.

yea and then we can all happily embrace the new Draenei lore... WoW:TBC lore messed up warcraft. Sorry, but i couldn't care less about warcraft right now.

The Dranei were already in Warcraft III, if Blizzard hadnt of made WoW, they would have Brought the Dranei In the story possibly, Im sorry but I hate having to listen to Ignorant Teenagers who think Warcraft is WoW.WoW and Warcraft are two different game series, just set in the same universe, and I really couldnt care at all about WoW, In fact It's death cant come soon enough, Now Watch as all the WoW Fanboys attempt to tear me limb from limb.

also the need to balance the sides for the new races. (bloodelf palis) just ruins it for me.

I Didnt really Like what Burning Crusade Did to the Dranei, In Warcraft III they were weird primitive people, in Burning Crusade they look like Near Translucent Purple Aliens, Truthfully I Hope they dont carry the lore in WoW to warcraft, but they will of course which sucks, Warcraft IV Should Involve Arthas Returning from Northrend and Trying to Conquer the World again, and Maybe Like Some Big civil war in the horde, since the forsaken and blood elves obviously arent going to get along with the orcs,tauren, and trolls for too long.The Blood Elves and the forsaken Will probaly make their own faction.

sorry, but i think that Blizzard is going to be kinda busy with this one for awhile. I liked starcraft better anway. However, i don't see why the couldn't start on Warcraft IV when Starcraft is done.

I think warcraft 4 is a must after starcraft 2. Because wow is very boring and lame.

Yes Warcraft IV is gonna happen but not anywhere soon though, I think they are making StarCraft II and WoW:Lich Kings Wrath right now and once they're done with these 2 they'll be making Diablo 3, and finally Warcraft 4, and they might make some games for consoles also. I only play RTS made by Blizzard the other ones just dont interest me.

I had fun and enjoyed the original Warcraft. I really liked things in Warcraft 2....

I wasn't very impressed with Warcraft 3. The game play seemed to have been dumbed down, you were horribly limited to the amount of units you could control and just because the game used a much better graphic engine over Warcraft 2, doesn't make it a better game.

I felt Warcraft 2 challanged me, while #3 didn't push the envelope....it just kind of laid there limp and lifeless, challange-wise.

I wouldn't want to see a Warcraft 4....let the saga end with dignity once WOW fades away.

Meh, after WC3, I'm a bit tired of the same ol' same ol' Blizzard RTS. With SC2 looking so close (in terms of gameplay) to SC1, I'd rather see Blizzard step outside the standard Blizzard RTS box. But, the fact is it looks like Blizzard has trouble doing anything other than sequels. They have cancelled a few games that are standard Blizzard fare. SC wasn't much more than WC in space (at least in terms of gameplay). Yeah, they polished the hell out of it and brought in three unique races; but it wasn't that big of a break from the norm.

Diablo is by far their most unique product since at the time of it's release the only thing even close was NetHack. WoW was Blizzard cashing in the MMORPG market. They didn't have to do anything new, they just had to give it the Blizzard polish. They really were just lucky with two flashes in the pan (WC and Diablo) and haven't strayed much from those two forumlas. Anyhow, I'm way OT.

Like I said, I'd much rather see Blizzard do something new.

Well after the new WoW expansion leaked it seems like there won't really be a lich king left for W4. However it really would be tough to construct a story that makes 'sense' since most of the people playing WoW say the lore is dead. Nevertheless I would love to see a Warcraft4. Warcraft 3 did the hero part so well and I still play DotA... 5 years later. The only complaint about the graphics is the resolution, however the game still does look nice.

Story matters. In a fantasy like realm, story really, really matters. It's what motivates you through the game, and distinguishes the difference between great games and unforgetible games.
