I have observed something you guys are not really giving a sh*t about it. It is the 3D gaming time and nobody is playing his/her games using the new 3D technology that is much more better than the old ones you saw before. Nvidia are promising that you will get the same as IMAX result for gaming and watching movies or pictures. It is (Geforce 3D Vision Glasses) which requires a 120hz Monitors or HDTVs. I thought people are going to jump for this since I see the 3D gaming way is much better/funnier way to play the modern games than the old 2D Flat screens. But I didn't expect people are just ignoring it.
The SONY Playstation 3 company developers are trying their best to develop a way to turn the PS3 to a smart 3D gaming machine nearly in 2009!
So the question is "What do you say about 3D gaming and talk about your preferments of the way you play" and "Is 3D gaming is a thing you aren't really interested in?"

Sooner or later , everyone will go crazy for it but for now, everyone's too busy discussing the cool games releasing in 2009.

I'd definitely love to experience 3d gaming with my games. It'd be super sick.

I agree with you! 3d gaming will start to evolve only if there is some support! Hide the S-word more, cause i got moderated for that|

Too me it's more of a gimmick then anything. Yes, iMax may be nice once in a while but I'd start to hate it if all movies were in 3D. And to be honest, I can't see the general public hopping on the 3D bandwagon.

Wake me when the holodeck is invented as it is the only technology I'd really want to jump for.

I don't get all this 3D love. I like 2D a lot better.

one word... PRICE. You not only need these glasses (I think were ~$200), you need a new monitor that is 120hz or HDTV as you said.

Like the other guy said, the price is a real hindrance. Plus, my RTSs are best played in 2D.

its just too expensive and it may not really offer any gains to game play. Its just 3d, once 3d porn becomes more popular then well you might see more 3d games... and these are game devs come on...Not like they actually take advantage of innovation. I would much rather see this but you can see how far that went even when someone did all the work for them.

The reason 3D gaming wont ever catch on ( and it wont....ever ) is essentially a complete lack of support from anyone not involved with the sale of the actual hardware.

Why would a developer be interested in integrating a new technology into their game that best case scenario wont increase sales of that particular title at all?

Sure you'll have people who buy it who otherwise wouldnt have simply because its 3D, but for every one of those people you will have a dozen who didnt buy the game who otherwise would have because they dont and will not ever buy the hardware needed to play it.

For something like this to ever succeed it would have to garner overwhelming and staggeringly strong support from consumers or nobody would utilize it during production. Anything short of 50% market share would be pointless.

3D gaming is not fiscally viable and will never be under any circumstances.

Developers don't have to make games for 3D. Almost all the recently released games today work with the Nvidia software. The software converts the games to 3D.

[List of supported games]

As for me, I'll get it in my next big build. Right now, I don't feel like buying a new monitor and $200 pair of glasses for it.

I think it's silly to say that it'll never be viable because some people won't buy the hardware. You can say that about advancements of games in general, but they're still viable. "We can't make games be 3D, because people won't buy graphics cards." "We can't put realistic physics into a games, people will never spend the money to have a good enough computer for that."

It's important to remember that people do buy cool new technologies that improve their entertainment experience, the said technologies decrease over time, and finally that technology becomes standard after a while. Who knows, maybe the gimmick of next gen of consoles won't be motion sensing, but 3D. It could be like the Virtual Boy, but without the suck. :)

Just an old gimmick that refuses to die and rot away. $200 for a pair of glasses? What the ****? I will never accept this until I can get it for cheap.

If the rumors are true I can only imagine playing Ninja Gaiden 2 when it gets ported to a superior version on PS3 using full 3-D Effects.
