It doesn't matter as long as the game is already running smoothly.

You either need to change the title to i5 or link to the right review since that link & pics go to the i5 review.

Not a big difference except for the first one. I can counter that with higher clock for my current CPU.

Well sandy bridge is going to replace current 1156 CPU's...might just take a little while for prices to settle down due to high demand.

Those numbers were supposed to impress? We're looking at a generational leap here, not something crazy that'll take the hardware world by storm. Unless we see gains like we saw when Core 2 launched, it's hard to really get excited about. Oh, and SC2 is worthless as a benchmark without minimum frame-rates.

If you don't have much disposable income, up front cost could be an issue.

I dont understand your question? My Q6600 was a bargain when I bought it,,,it overclcoked very well so it still plays games at 60fps (my Q6600 @ 3.4Ghz will run as good as a phenom II X4 @ 3Ghz roughly.)

I've only seen a couple of previews of Sandy Bridge boards on Guru3D and both of them have mentioned SLI only running at 8x... yeah, um I'll stick to my 1366 board thanks...

Like CellAnimation, I will be sticking to my 1366 board. I have no use for these things. I guess I will wait for Socket 2011 to hit, but I doubt I will go to it. I just don't see my i7 920 getting bogged down anytime soon. By the way TC, fix the damn title to i5. Let's try not to spread false info.

The difference between 8X+8X vs 16X+16X SLI/Xfire is minimal. A couple of frames difference at best.

Sandy Bridge i5 can possibly beat any Quadcore i7 CPUS, so the title stand true. ;)

and I won't doubt that either. Also, 2600k with a stock speed of 3.4ghz is too attractive.

I'll wait for more reviews to come out. Everything I've been hearing thus far was pointing towards sandy bridge being weaker than current i7's.

yeah. best bet for i7 owners would be going to the socket after 2011 if its actually worth it. installing multiple programs, running a game and browsing the internet bring my cpu usage to like 50%. thats just ridiculous. no need to upgrade an i7 for awhile.

The upcumming sandy bridges are intels mid level replacements, they run better clock for clock than the current 1156 cpus and run with less power.

HOWEVER, the i7s are still faster, and intel themselves stated that the fastest cpu they make untel the end of next year will be the gulftowns, which ARE NOT SANDYBRIDGE.

Gulftown is Six-core while Sandy Bridge is a Quadcore (ranging from i5 to i7 w/HT) that will slaughter current Intel Quadcore CPU lineup.

i5 2500k> i5 760

i7 2600k > i7 875k, i7 920, 950, and all other 1366-Quadcores.

The extra cores aren't what makes it fast. The high end bloomfields are also extremely fast.

I don't give a damn about these new processors. So as long as my i7-920 is still fast enough to play games with no problems and fast enough to not bottleneck my current video card or any I plan to get in the future, I'm satisfied.

Why would you buy a new CPU when you already have an i7-920? You don't need to upgrade. I just don't understand.

I am very guilty of this when it comes to video cards, but there could be far worse things to be addicted to right? I mean I live at home right now while I attend college, so yea I really don't have any big things to pay off with my paychecks, so I just spend it on myself and sometimes my parents for being the awesome people they are. I mean, I mine as well enjoy myself when I can, I know I won't be able to keep doing it once I graduate, not until I get a good job.

So you gain a 15% performance increase in games. The only way your reaching the point were the CPU bottlenecks is with 2-3 580's. CPU's have a longer life cycle than GPU's, hell core duos will still run all game nicely.

Lookin good. Wonder how much Motherboards gonna cost... Thats gonna be the lolfest just like what happen to i5's and i7's on release for about a year.
