the performance is going to be nearly identical. The only benefit is going to be better integrated graphics and lower power consumption. However rumors are out that say the overclocking is worse as they heat up too fast to match the sandy bridge overclocks.

Not gonna base my choice on rumor.I will likely get an IvyBridge when it releases, going from a first batch Phenom II AM2+ 940 BE. Its been a great chip but I dont think its cutting it anymore paired with my GTX580.V4LENT1NEYea, I have the 955 at the moment with the same card. I don't know which to get first though, the 680 or the z77 board and chip. I can get one now & the other later, but decisions decisions.

Get the board and chip no doubt, my CPU seems to be holding me back a bit in CPU intense games like Dirt 3 and WoW. I dont think 580 to 680 is worth it at all.
Im waiting for the x51 refresh with ivy bridge. But i'll be tempted to buy one anyways when I get my money.

Nice! What I like about Sandy & Ivy bridge is that they have an onboard gpu so you don't need a graphics card so that's handy seeing as you haven't decided yet :)My video processor. PS3 for games.

I'm waiting myself. I've been waiting since january--when I was suppose to have my new build. *sigh* I'm actually not going to purchase an Ivy Bridge but I'm hoping SB processors and motherboards would come down in price by 5-10% or so when Ivy Bridge gets released. Save a little bit of money--i'm cheap these days.
i am mroe interested in Trinity APU release dates so i can DIY my own Steam box mini gaming PC into an original XBOX case i stripped recently. what comes after IVY bridge? that will be sweet.

Any recommendations?[QUOTE="Physorac"][QUOTE="V4LENT1NE"]I will likely get an IvyBridge when it releases, going from a first batch Phenom II AM2+ 940 BE. I would have thought the ivybridge would have more room for overclocking due to the lower power consumption but I dont know much about these things.[QUOTE="NailedGR"][QUOTE="Physorac"]

thats BS....intel never ever lets people down, trust me ivy bridge will be the sht. Even the graphics on it will be good enough to rival AMD's and nvidias. So much so that I don't see people needing mid level graphics cards anymore, i.e 99% of people out there.
