There's no buzz because they dropped turn-based gameplay and replaced it with real-time.

There's still Jagged Alliance Online. It's browser-based, but looks great and plays like the old JAs did. I was seriously surprised at how nicely it played at gamescom this year.I'd bet good money this will be a very 'less full featured' JA, i.e. much less depth, much less inventory items, much less dialoge, shallow, etc. This game looks to follow the dumbed down path of current gameplay designs.
But I can still hope and wil not judge till I see it.....
Well, what else is coming out that is anywhere near the caliber of Jagged Alliance?I'd bet good money this will be a very 'less full featured' JA, i.e. much less depth, much less inventory items, much less dialoge, shallow, etc. This game looks to follow the dumbed down path of current gameplay designs.

Yea, but most people like RTS better than TBS. I'm not making a value judgment, but they probably changed it to suit what is popular. There's no buzz because they dropped turn-based gameplay and replaced it with real-time.

I don't like that it's an RTS now. If it was classic a JA turn-based game then it would totally kick ass. But realtime Jagged Alliance ain't no Jagged Alliance I want to be part of.
I don't get this attitude. So, it's not going to be TBS. I'd rather have it be TBS, but just because it's going to be RTS doesn't mean it's going to be a bad game. I'd recon it will probably be the sleeper hit of 2012. Ok, Mechwarrior, D3 and Jagged Alliance. I can't think of any other decent PC exclusive titles next year. OK, there will be a whole slew of console ports, but they will all suck. But realtime Jagged Alliance ain't no Jagged Alliance I want to be part of.

When will people learn you do not have to re-invent the wsheel to make a good modern game?

well, you do if you want to make a good modern game.
but, no, you don't need to if you want to make a good game
The Real Time with Pause combat killed it for me. Again and again in gaming history, RTwP has failed and disappointed. It is not because of removal of depth or anything like that, it has to do with the fact that controlling these types of games is usually a mess. Usually you end up pausing so much you might just have played a Turn Based game to begin with.
Edit: You can make a turn based game and still have it modern. There are plenty of ways to improve the turn based combat system. The only good thing that can possibly come out of the game being RTwP is suppression fire. But even then, there are already mechanics for things like that.
I was very exited while it was supposed to be Jagged Alliance 2 with better graphics and interface. Now I don't care anymore.
Who exactly is bitComposer aiming the game for? Mainstream gamers will not care for an isometric low budget game and Jagged Alliance fans will turn it down due to the genre change. Epic failure ahead!
