This is my second build but its not going as well as the first.  I connected the processor, heatsink/fan, ram, video card(which i went and bought a new one after there was no image the first time so thats not the problem), and connected the dvd drive and hard drive both via SATA and but them in the two primary spots separtely.  Any ideas what would cause the fans to start spinning and sound like its booting up yet no image appears on the monitor like nothing is connected?

No beeps?

Check your VGA card & monitor & make sure the Processor Fan's cable is connected with the motherboard

Even though you can get it to boot, The memory is probably incompatible with the motherboard.

Newer bios's might fix it.

U said it beeps once right? Look into ur mobos manual for the bios maufacturer, model whatever and google for the bios beep code for that bios, as far as i know 1 beep is ussualy when the bios detects ald devices correctly. Maybe its the monitor i dont see any other problem otherwise the bios would tell u. Try booting with 1 ram like marlonsm said, reconecting the VGA.
