just finished hl2 and episodes: thoughts and such SPOILERS ALERT!!!

before i say anything, SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS ( i would hate to ruin the amazing plot for anyone)

anyway, as the title perhaps gives away, i have just finished hl2 episode 2. and then i sat back and went: WOW

i mean, this game is awesome!

graphics, fantastic

physics, awesome obviously

music, rare, but superb

story, i think we all know

atmosphere,amazing

gameplay, smashing, althought a lack of aiming down the sights is the only downer......the only real flaw i have found

and plus the amazing character development. im not ashamed to say i fell for alyx completely:)

and then, its super cool. i mean the music makes you feel awesome, and when the gman comes in, ITS SO COOL!!!!

and its sad, when eli dies, i reckon there are few among us who can say they didnt feel real compassion. the brilliant voice acting adds to this. and soooooooo immersive, you never know whats going to happen next, it doesnt follow a particular formula, there are no final boss ultimate fight things and there are no cutscenes (which i think is the best part of the game), you really feel as though you are gordon freeman.

i think that it is the best game i have ever played.

Yes, I completely agree. Especially Episode Two, with its amazing pacing and action. I believe this strider assault is quite possibly THE best action sequence I've ever played, just plain awesome. And the ending - yes. The actress who does Alyx has truly done a superb job of voice acting.NoAssKicker47

yeah, that scene was incredible! and alyx does stand out as the best voice actress. she really was ALIVE.

and yes, episode 2 was the best, i wasnt disappointed with episode 1, but after playing ep2, its clear how much better it is. the change of scenery was very refreshing, it was longer, more story in it and diverse enemies.

Yeah, I really can't wait for Episode 3 aswell.

I loved episode 2, the ending was so amazing and it really makes you notice how connected you feel to the characters.
I mean, I spent all the time Eli Vance was speaking to picking up objects and trying to stack them on his head, but when he died, I got so angry!
I was mashing my keyboard hoping to god I would find a button that would let me move and get my crowbar. I woulda done a LOT of violating things to that Combine thing with just a crowbar.

And BTW, the whole "lol omg its a cutscene but not really because you can move your mouse around" is pretty standard nowadays and nothing to write home about.

all that to say that stuff yes, but i wanted to say how it was good. you dont just say something is good, and not say why, not usually at any rate.

and with most cutscenes you can see the protagonist that you play, or it takes away your ability to move, in nearly all of the half life 2 ones, you could move around at your will, its not just moving your head:?

If you can run the fakefactory 8.0 mod then do it. It adds new music and visuals (at a price of 20gbs or something).

I have to agree though. The Half-Life 2 series has been driven by a story more powerful than most stories in movies.

HL2 was ok game but i found those lengthy car drives to be sooo booring.HL2 episode is what blown me off.I was actually going to stop playing the game miidway when that hunter comes and stabs Alyx.sandeep410

I enjoyed it and after the car drive when you get to the antlions is just way to awesome. HL Ep2 drive scene was much better then the first game.

No, but it should definitely not be praised when it's just a silly gimmick that adds nothing to the game. It's not like those pseudo-cutscene sections are interactive in any meaningful way. They work the same way as any other cutscene, the only difference is now you have the opportunity to do stupid stuff like jump around like an idiot while the "cutscene" is happening.
