Just wondering how max payne 2 has aged on PC, I had a long break and went to consoles only as I was having to many issues on PC and it became a pain in the ass, My comeback games to PC is Batman Arkham City which looks freaking amazing on PC, Diablo 3 and Max Payne 3, But I never played Max Payne 2 and was just wondering how it's aged and if it's still worth playing before 3 comes out.

I assume you played the first, right? If not then both come with a Steam pre order of MP3.

Max Payne 2 is definitely worth it, though Max Payne 3 won't pull a Metal Gear and force you to play it to understand the story, the game would be significantly improved if you understood the character and his past better, and if you had a handle on what gameplay to expect.

Though I played them years ago on PS2, I refreshed myself with a crash course through both games in a week and it was a blast. The first feels a bit "old" in a lot of ways (especially the damn faces and stiff AI), but the second is still really polished and could hold up to scrutiny to more modern gameplay, especially since for the time it had a lot of cool things (like ragdoll physics) that helped it stay ahead of the curve.

Max Payne 2 is a masterpiece. Any gamer should play it. Some of the very best storytelling in this medium.

Yes, it has aged really well.

If you haven't played the first one, play it too.

The first one would've aged pretty well too, if it wasn't for this

Max Payne 2 has aged really well. It still looks and plays great. Definitely worth playing through. I love the enviroment design, and it has awesome really creative locations.

You should really play both. The second game still holds up well but in my opinion the first game still looks fine and the important thing is, it's still a great game. You really should try to play both. It's a great experience.

Yeah the faces have gotten quit outdated. The worst part for me was when you shot the last person in a room and the camera zoomed in: everyone had his eyes closed and made this weird face :P

But the story and gameplay are still great to this day, so I'm willing to look past it.

I was entirely new to the Max Payne - I got the first two as part of my Steam pre-order. The first game does look good for a 2001 game (although better looking than GTA3), although dated by today's standards. The story-telling is first class and keeps you playing.

MP2 looks excellent, with only some of the textures looking a bit flat - and to be fair it holds its own graphically against games that came along 5 years later.

I thought both games were excellent.

In all the games I have played, it comes second to portal 2 in terms of story telling. You're not a real pc gamer if you don't play that game.

I'm just getting back into PC gaming but it's really got me excite! thats for sure, I've had enough of 720p graphics of the consoles, although I still luv some console exclusives that's for sure, But have been luving sweet 1080p on PC. Also thanks for the recomendations ill pre order max payne 3 and play 1 and 2 with the pre order bonus. Also another question guys, Is it worth pre ordering Torchlight 2 off steam as I haven't played Torchlight 1 and really luv the Diablo type games, is torchlight 1 still fun even though there is no co-op??

Torchlight story is not "amazing" in any way but the game is a tribute to the genre. Try the demo on steam.

One of my top 5 favorite video games of all-time. It has aged VERY well. And it's super cheap. Brilliant video game. It's a masterpiece among all games.

This must be some kind of trick question, right?

MP1 and 2 are some of the best games ever made. The second one holds up very well graphic-wise.

^^This.....The second game was more polished than the original for sure, but I found the first to be really great in terms of story (as was the 2nd). It had that film-noir, gritty graphic novel atmosphere to it that I highly enjoyed. If you haven't played either of these games as of yet I highly recommend getting and playing both.

Never finished MP2, I always started it but never could get into it. MP however had a terrific story and since I never found the gameplay in either of the MP games compelling...I never had a reason to keep playing the sequel.

Max Payne 2 is a fantastic game. I remember when it came out it was a nearly perfect game with the only flaw being that it was a bit short. I played it a few months ago and it felt like a game that could come out today and still be fairly well recieved.
