We are sorry for the inconvenience. when i click where it says "click here: for more information i get this: AppName: fearmp.exe AppVer: 1.8.282.0 ModName: kernel32.dll ModVer: 5.1.2600.2945 Offset: 000eead1 ive tried everything i can think of, and the game is fully patched, yet it doesn't work. is there another patch out there for this? ive done reasearch and tried everything ive seen on other forums found through google. please tell me i can play this still, its one of my favs. thank you in advance
I've never used Zone Alarm before so I am just guessing. You might need to uninstall Zone Alarm and then try it or go into your services and stop it. It looks like from your error message that Fearmp.exe is using Kernel32.dll for API functions that Zone Alarm has deemed to be prohibited. Have you tried making fearmp.exe part of full access group or something? Try completely uninstalling Zone Alarm. If that still didnt work after a restart then you have other issues. One last thing would be reinstalling Fear.
I hate to tell ya this, but uninstalling Zonealarm may not fix the problem. Zonealarm is the WORST software firewall out there. I know, i had Zone Alarm Pro, biggest waste of my money ever. Even when uninstalled it leaves permanent changes in place to many windows network files and possibly the kernel itself. In Win98 there was a way to fix this in DOS, but in XP no such luck. You may not only have to uninstall Zonealarm, but have to reinstall your whole OS to fix the problem and get your windows to a "fresh" uncorrupted-by-zonealarm state. That's been my experience anyways, stay away from software firewalls if ya can, especially Zone Alarm, get a router instead if you want guaranteed security.
Edit: If you "must" use a software firewall and don't wanna use the windows one, try NetVeda Safety.Net firewall. It's free for home use (proffessional version you must purchase), easy to configure, seems to have no bugs and has no add/spy/mal-ware. Just google it or look for it at download dot com. but like i said, if ya can, stay away from software firewalls completely if ya can.
