okay...so i got star wars: the best of pc, which is basically five pc games on two discs. i was able to install four of them and they all run smoothly. i then installed kotor (knights of the old republic), the last game. the installation ran smoothly, but when i try to play it, it blacks out at the menu screen. i checked my computer, and only my graphics card doesn't seem to meet the recommended specs. it's an NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE. could someone help me?

The first KOTOR was pretty picky on the hardware and its drivers, you can try patching the game first if you haven't done that already to see if that will fix the issue or you might need to find updated drivers if you haven't done that either. The 6150 LE is a pretty bare minimum graphics card for any game if the other 2 options don't work then you are simply out of luck.

i don't know...the game already comes with all the patches. plus, isn't the GeForce 6150 LE way above the recommended specs?

like an above poster said, KOTOR was very picky on what cards and drivers it liked. i can run it maxed out perfectly, but when i hit an area with smoke, i get a pretty noticeable drop in frames. silly, since i have a 7800GT, and it's an 03' game.

You would think it is but I ran it on a old Athlon XP 3800+ and a GeForce 6800 Ultra and I had to roll back my drivers a few release just to get the game to boot up which in turn made other games unplayable. Try updating your drivers for the graphics card to see if that will help or not.

This is a well known problem and there is a work around involving reloading some older driver files. I don't have any of the info anymore but you can google the game and it is playable once you load in the new files.
