KotOR - Oh, the memories!

I tried installing it recently on my Windows Vista 64-bit, but it didn't work. Is there is any patch or something that can fix this?

Anyway, this is probably one of my favorite games ever, it got me into RPGs and I never looked back. However, I think that KoToR 2 was a better game, although there were bugs and such. I just felt that the characters and storyline were darker and more varied than that of the original.

Steam version of KOTOR with 64bit Windows7 works for me.

^ That should fulfill all your widescreen desires! I actually used the Steam version, because I don't want to fumble with discs. It was a bit more trouble getting to work in widescreen because you have to use an alternative launcher but everything came out great. I have to tab-out for cutscenes to start properly but nothing fatal to the game running stable.

To my surprise, the overall look of the graphics/visual effects was really impressive considering it's 7 years old. Just max everything out, AA, AF and res, it's like a new experience. At first, coming back to a game where the main character didn't really speak was sorta like having withdrawals, but I soon got over it and felt like it added to the "mystery" of the main character.

mass effect 2 was very good....much closer to the quality of kotor

however mass effect 2 was lots of great individual segments

it wasn't really unified in the way that kotor was

i think half life 2 is the only game that matches kotor, because its story is arguable even better

Makes me want to play this game again. I haven't played it since 2004. It's one of the few games that kept me hooked throughout its entirety...I couldn't put it down. I'm going to check out that screen rez app, OP.

Are there some patches or updates that can improve the gameplay and everything of the games ? Because I can't understand a thing from the link here to some site .

i think half life 2 is the only game that matches kotor, because its story is arguable even better

I thought ME had a pretty good story, but wasn't really digging the characters too much.

ME2 had GREAT characters and I like their individual subplots, but I strongly agree that ME2 felt like several short segments rather than a whole. Maybe the whole Cerberus mission summary thing killed it. The planets' different sections didn't feel very cohesive.

I have my flamesuit ready but I strongly disagree with HL2. I like HL2, I beat it, but I don't get what all the fuss is with it. There's very little story in it compared to something like KotOR...I'm lost. :|

Well, I don't quite get about the story, but the gameplay is pretty well polished in HL2. I think perhaps it is not necessarily the story of HL2, but the way in that it is told.

Well, thanks to the author of this thread, i finished this game for the first time. A great ride! Not as epic as everyone say it is, maybe because of the dated graphics, or the frustration of trying to make it work on win7 64 bit, but a great game nevertheless. 7 years ago i would probably be much more impressed.

p.s. is KOTOR 2 just as good?

Got this game originally on the Xbox hated it just couldn't get into it at all, later i got it on the PC wow i was blown away one of the best game experiences.

Playing thru this again and also Divine Divinity, two of my all time fav rpgs. Try to play them again once a year :P

Interested to try the mod for better resolution but i got steam version.

Everyone has there own opinions... OPINIONS, not facts.

To me ME1/2 and KOTOR1/2 are both awesome series and games. Oblivion not so much... but Morrowind, Daggerafll and Arena def.

KOTOR = one of the worst games ever made. Even worse than ME1. Thank the combat

system which requires so little brain activity, its probably best to play the game while urinating and

only because urinating is a necessity.
