I have got a problem. AGAIN! It seems the problem is with L4D2 now. I installed the game properly and when I run it, the menu appears and when I choose to run a campaign, at 90% of the loading it stops and quits to the desktop with no errors showing up. Can someone help me?

Many have the same problem, me included, but I've fixed it now. You can try this:

# Navigate to your windows folder (usually c:/windows/)
# Inside there, goto the CSC folder
# Try to open the folder and it should fail (if it doesn't, you have a different problem). It'll come up with 'You don't currently have permission to access this folder' at which time you keep pressing continue until it says you've been denied.
# Right-click the folder, go to properties.
# Go to the security tab at which point it'll say 'To continue, you must be an administrative user with permission to view this object's security properties' at which point you click continue.
# Click on admin in the owner tab which will swap the owner to the administrator then click OK.
# You then click on OK once again which will bring up the security tab.
# Tick 'full control', press OK twice to get out of the properties tabs. # Run the game.

If that doesn't work (which it didn't for me), try shutting down your anti-virus program. I use AVG and disabling it will keep L4D2 from crashing.

If these two fixes doesn't work, the only thing you can do, I guess, is wait for Valve to patch the game.

Where you able to install steam? What operating system do you have? If you have Vista make sure you run steam normally and not in administrator mode. Also make sure your video card drivers are up to date. For NVIDIA go to nvidia.com. For ATI go to ati.com

Try right clicking the game, go to properties, local files, verify the integrity of cache files. This happened to me before and that fixed it. Worth a shot.

If you have any custom campaigns in the addons folder, remove them.
