Well, I'd buy it in a boxed copy. Once you activate it on Steam you'll be able to download it at will at any time anyway, so why not enjoy awesome packaging?

I found out on my last reinstall of Win that you don't have to redownload your games from steam!
Just install Steam in the same folde you originaly had it installed and it will find all your game.

The first time you start a game it will do a quick check that all the files are there and then your good to go!

Wich I knew this from the beginning.
Would have saved me allot of time redownloading all my Steam games.

I'll probably get it on steam. I've got too many packages on the shelf as it is.

If I get it, it will be on Steam. Game boxes for the PC just sit on my shelf. Only reason I ever even get them out is if a game requires a CD in the drive. Other than that, they just collect dust. And anymore developers don't really throw bells and whistles in a retail package (unless you buy the collector's editions), so, you're just getting a box with a DVD/CD. Not really any point.

And since I don't have a slow internet connection, I don't really mind waiting for a download. I don't reinstall my games or OS that often anyway.

Steam Man.

It insures you'll be able to play right away, I'm staying up all night (day?) of the 18 to play at 3 a.m in the morning.

Also, You don't have to make an unnecessary trip to the store.

right now, i'm leaning towards getting it from steam, cuz i can play it on day 1 and i can get it for $5 cheaper. but then again, it'll be released on the 18th, which is a tuesday, and i can't really play much until friday. so maybe not.

My connection is I guess enough to play online but 512 is not enough for me to try and download a full game.

Depends on when preloading starts. I'd far rather Steam it, but with my crappy connection it's gonna take me about a week to download it all. If they don't give me enough time, I have no choice but to buy it boxed. I need it day one.

It's basically the same thing.

Registering your key on Steam is pretty much the same thing as buying it on Steam.

Einhanderkiller

Except that one of the above doesn't involve a 7GB download! Some people might not have the realistic means to download a file like that, and they may not have the means to back it up once they've got it, too, making them even more uncomfortable with the thought of downloading it incase they have to do it all over again.

There are some weird internet connections out there. I get 5 ping when I'm gaming on servers in my country, but my max download speed is about 100k/sec, and it's a fair bit slower than that on Steam. A friend bought me Hitman on Steam over the weekend and it's only at 60% right now.

Already saved 10% through preordering and when it pre-loads I'll be able to get it within seconds of it's actual release instead of driving and hopefully finding it somewhere.

The packaging will make everything OFFICIAL. I'ts kinda lame just downloading it and being able to einstall it how ever many times you'd like...to me at least.

I am calling an intervention for you, you clearly have a problem.

Personally , I like downloading now, I can never lose/destroy/scratch/Frisbee the discs that way. Plus no damn waste in packaging.

It gets tossed in the ever increasing human waste pile anyway.(eventually after you tire of looking at it)

I do not even keep DVD cases anymore. Just the inserts in a Large DVD wallet.

I'm still irked that I skipped on the $35 Amazon preorder for the DVD box, especially since this is one of the games where you can just register your CD-key on Steam and it's the exact same as if you'd just bought it there. Argh. :(

I will only buy off steam if there is some sort of pre-order incentive. Like early access to the game or a beta (sort of like what they did with TF2). Otherwise its retail for me :D.
