I'm running a older Msi Wind (with an early Atom 1.6ghz) and its starting to show signs of age. I'm only waiting for an Android Tablet like the Eee Transformer to replace but for now I still need it browse the web. Firefox is starting to get irritating and I'm thinking of switching to Chrome. I love the custimization and apps but its not so bad since I running it on my GX740. So I'm wondering any tweaks I can do to Firefox to make it lighter on my low PC power. Is it for adding a gig of ram. Should I give Chrome a try ? I dont feel like the OS is lite enough
Firefox absolutely kills my HP Mini 1115NR, even with Flash and Java disabled.
Opera, on the other hand, runs like a dream, and it's an all-around great browser too. I highly recommend it.
Be wary of Chrome. It looks clean, but it can actually be pretty system intensive - particularly because each tab actually runs in its own instance of chrome.exe - and it doesn't take long at all for it to approach Firefox levels of CPU and memory consumption.
The beta for Firefox 4 is pretty light. Which is good because the current official release of Firefox feels bloated. However it now looks like a Safari/Chrome clone.
