[QUOTE="s00kah"]Yea, wireless is risky, get a wired one.Avenger1324
Switching back to wired does seem sensible.
I had a disaster with a cheap unbranded wireless desktop set that came free with a PC about 5 years ago, which is when I switched to the Logitech Wireless Desktop MX, which included the MX700 wireless mouse. The keyboard has been excellent, and is on only its second set of batteries (regular not rechargeable) after all that time :) It used a single wireless receiver/charging station for the signal from both the keyboard and mouse, so when it stopped charging I had to have 2 receivers on the desk which isn't ideal.
Thanks for the suggestions
The MX518 and G5/G7 look a very similar shape to what I'm currently using, so I wouldn't need to find one in a shop to check how it feels. Is there really much difference in laser over optical? Or is it like telling someone that HDTV is better than SDTV - the best way to prove it is to see it yourself?
The MX Revolution looks interesting, though with a second scroll wheel on the side for the thumb I would have to try that out in a shop first. I can see where hyper scrolling would come in handy, though I'm guessing it takes a bit of getting used to.
The G9 looks smaller than the other mice, but maybe that is just the picture. It talks about two different grips that you can attach, but while I don't have huge hands they don't really go well with small mice.
I did try a Razer mouse, but it was a few years back. I remember them having very high precision, but also being very lightweight, especially compared to the MX700 with the added weight of two AA batteries inside.
I have an MX Revolution and I like it a lot, but... The second scroll wheel is not a true scroll it does not allow for turnning all the way around only a half turn. I bought the mouse because I liked that it was wireless and that cool microgear thing. Though to tell you the truth I almost never use in it the free spin mode, it just does not work well in games. The mouse has a lot of buttons on it more then most other mice. 9 buttons if I remember correctly...
