I have an opportunity to get these speakers for 150 euro second hand and I am wondering what they're like. They seem like pretty good speakers and the sub seems hefty for the price. I had an Onkyo HT S5305 system before and thought it sounded great, some think that was horrible but I thought it was perfect for me, so I'm wondering how these would stand up to those because if they're similar I will be happy.

Also will a regular soundcard connect to these? Before my 5.1 was easy just HDMI to receiver and HDMI to TV so when it comes to PC connections I'm not well tuned in so a little help would be helpful

Pretty sure the Onkyo would sound better, but for 150 euro it's not that bad. Used to have them and sold them to get a pair of good bookshelf speakers + sub + amp,do not regret my move at all. Newer motherboard have 5.1\7.1 sound outputs,so you won't need a soundcard

My motherboard is an Asus M4A87TD EVO so I don't know if it has that capability or not. It's a pretty cheap mobo. I just miss that feel of proper surround where you have that sense of space and deeper bass. I know the bass wont be earth shattering but a lot more than headphones

That will do 7.1 analogue out fine.

So no need for a separate soundcard then?

That's a very good price for that system. You can read the installation requirements here. You may not need a separate sound card depending on your motherboard's audio chipset and how you decide to wire the system. Good luck, Boz

I think i'll get it and see how it goes first and then if a sound card is needed I can get one after. No point spending the money on one first and then find out I don't need it.

Oh and thanks for the link
