As the title says, can anyone suggest a good mid-range graphics card for PCIe or PCIe x16?
Also, im looking for a price around $50, the lower the better. BTW, I will be using the card for gaming.

darn 50 bucks....was going to try and sell you my gts :Pfloridaskater05
Meh, maybe I can expand my budget a bit. How much?
If you want $50 then your going to have to go to ebay. I just bought a 7900GT with free shipping and a $25 cooler already attacthed for $50. The card(even tho old) isn't bad it can max most of the games I play. Look for either a x1900 series or even a 7900series on the website. Also check around for a HD3850 because while I was auctioning one sold for $51 which would be a great pickup. Also, im looking for a price around $50, the lower the better. crazy-player
Yeah I was actually looking through ebay before I posted this. I just wanna know what cards I should look for.crazy-playerJust go to the top and search one of the following (7900GT/7950GT/x1900xt/HD3850) and then click time ending soonest. You should be able to pick up one of those cards from a good repuable seller in your price range within a few days.
Sorry to say, but you're not going to find much for gaming in that price range. The closest I could find were these two cards: a 2600XT for $60 and an 8600 GTS for $65 ($55 after rebate). Nothing $50 or below is good for gaming, unless you're playing older games.
EDIT: But yeah, check eBay first.
Ok, final question. Theres a 2600xt 256MB for $45, should I go with that or the 8600gt 512MB for $66?
EDIT: Im really tight on money, and $20 more makes a pretty big difference for me. Is there a big difference between the 2600xt and the 8600gt?
go with the 8800gts :) the little kids in africa need that guitar amp :Dfloridaskater05
Haha, I dont think I cant, its way out of my budget.
Guys, I got a second chance offer from a auction I didnt win on eBay, and Im wondering if $66 w/ shipping is a good price for a 8600gt 512MB?crazy-playerNo not really. Most 7series nvida cards and every x1900series card from ati would give better performance and you can find them for around $50. I saw so may auctioned off for less than the 8600GT
I would actually recommend the 2600xt over the 8600GT, but only if the XT has GDDR3 memory. The differences between the cards aren't that great, but the 512MB 8600 cards come with GDDR2 memory, which is inferior to GDDR3. If the XT has GDDR3, it's a better buy, since that extra memory won't do much on cards like these.ajkalan
Thanks for the info. The one I was looking at was DDR3, not GDDR3, is there a difference?
EDIT: Nevermind, it was surely a typo. In the description it clearly said GDDR3.
