Titan Quest + Immortal Throne is awesome and probably the most content rich of all the diablo clones. Torchlight is also very fun. Of course you could play Diablo 2 if you never have before, though it's pretty old.

The best I can recommend except Diablo 2 is Sacred 1, it's the best after D2 imo, lots of fun with a lot of content.

Seeing as you liked WoW you could also try a F2P mmo. Some good one's that you can actually enjoy without paying money are Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeon and Dragons Online. If you just looking for a single player hack n slash Id also recommend Titan Quest.

Dungeon Siege, Torchlight and Titan Quest are all good games in the genre. Sacred is good, and Sacred 2 is decent enough but flawed. I preferred all of those games over the Diablo series, which just failed to grab my interest for some reason. I'll also suggest Divine Divinity (the first one) here, which is actually a bit of a deeper RPG.

I'm also keeping my eye on a couple of games in development: Grim Dawn by Crate Entertainment (from some of the same devs who made Titan Quest), and strangely (for me) a F2P online game called Path Of Exile, from an indie dev called Grinding Gear Games. That one looks to be shaping up pretty well, and the skill tree is freaking huge.

And for some old school dungeon crawling, the upcoming Legend of Grimrock seems to be an homage to games like Eye Of The Beholder.

For something a little different, you might like to check out Dungeons of Dredmor ($5 on Steam). It's definitely got levelling, talent trees and tons of loot, but the entire thing is designed to be excessively cruel/funny. You -will- die. A lot. But that's half of the fun. It's turn-based with randomly generated dungeon layouts; throw in a perma-death option, and there's a huge amount of replay value there.

I would highly recommend Icewinda Dale. It's Baldurs Gate "lite". More focused on fighting. Excellent game! Play it with the widescreen mod.

Torchlight is lots of fun or hold out for Diablo 3. And if you want to see where it all began get hold of a copy of 'Gauntlet' it is still fun even tho it is 25+ years old.

OP, do you want a action/looting game like game like Diablo, Titan Quest, Torchlight, Dungeon Seige, Sacred... ? Or do you want more of a tactical rpg like Icewind Dale, Wizardry or Temple of Elemental Evil ? They call these games dungeon crawlers because they're not heavy on the story/party banter/dialog as much as other contemporary rpgs. ( More combat orientated adventures )

You realy have 2 different types of games ppl are recommending to you here.

D&D games are a bit hard to get into if the TC hasn't played anything related to D&D before. The best, most simple game would be Titan Quest or Diablo 2.

Or he/she could try reading the manual or doing a little reasearch on it. Those games actually had some nice sized manuals.

A real dungeon crawler? Eye of the Beholder or Might and Magic: World of Xeen

Action RPG? Titan Quest.

Good Old Games is having a massive sale on the D&D games. If the OP wants a more tactical set of games that has some leveling and gear but is not the emphasis there is no better set of games. Icewind Dale (2 is OK but I wouldn't recommend it), Planescape Torment, Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, and Neverwinter Nights. The manual makes all of them but Icewind Dale cake.

Diablo II is easily the king. Torchlight is a good singleplayer game like Diablo, and Torchilght II comes out later this year (no confirmed release date). DIablo III comes out early next year.

No, i disagree. I got into Baldurs Gate when it came out, and that one is much more complicated than IWD. I don't think TC would have any problems.

To me all those hack and slash/action rpgs get repitive and boring. They are a little more tolerable if you play co-op with a friend/ or friends though. If i'm playing alone it's tactical rpgs all the way though.

Titan Quest is a nexus of banality; a vacuum of wonder; a dearth of gaiety; a wasteland of futility; a bastion of boredom.
