Hello I currently have an HP w2207 which is a great monitor but I have had it for 7 years now and would like to get an LED monitor now. I have been looking at the HP x2301 and the ASUS VS239H-P. Both look great and have great reviews but I was hoping to get some other suggestions or even if you own one of these two some feedback on how games look and play on them. Thank you for your time =)

asus vg236h is what i use

best 120hz monitor for gaming and general use

avoid the benq 120hz displays, they ghost a lot, especially at non native res, and even at native res it ghosts more than the asus.

I'm in the market for a new monitor as well. Newegg has the VS239H-P for $190 + a $20 dollar gift card, which is a pretty good deal. I've heard mostly good things about it. You're not going to get much better of a monitor at that price, but I've heard it suffers from some backlight leaking issues.

I game on a ips at 60hz and have absolutely no issues, and the improved color reproduction is fantastic! No more banding in gradients and movies and games just POP more with the better colors.

ok

play me in quake live(or any fps)

you will find you have issues then

for gaming you absolutely want 120hz

the difference is huge

which is why in quake4 they capped it to 60fps because they thought it would be unfair

but quake4 sucks anyway tho

The same way you need a wired mouse? I'm sorry but a 60hz IPS is fine. Depending on OP's rig, most games probably won't be running at higher than 60fps anyway, so there would be no benefit to having a 120hz monitor. If you're playing professionally or want to do 3D gaming, then I might be able to see the benefit of a 120hz. Otherwise it's rather pointless.

the anandtech reviewer for my 120hz vg236h the difference is like a SSD when you get one you don't want to go back the difference is apparent to anyone it's just much nicer to use and it helps quite a bit with aiming, especially close range tracking My shaft acc drops by like 5% on 60hz at close range, i have to play smarter when i am on 60hz..

I'm going to venture a guess and say OP probably isn't looking to be a top-tier competitive twitch shooter gamer... For 99% of the gaming population IPS and 60hz is plenty, especially for newer games where I doubt rigs gaming rigs will be able to get much more than 60fps in hectic situations anyway. Quake Live is great and all but to make a purchasing decision as big as a monitor just on it and other old twitch shooters that can run at 300fps on lowend cards is a little silly to me.

120hz is only for pros like myself. Any casual fps player can get any cheap monitor they want.
