Any suggestions for a good spaced based RTS?

Fleet building conquest type deal?

Or any good space/fleet based suggestions??

Thanks!

Well, for one, there is Sins of a Solar Empire. Very in depth, although you will probably have save the match before it's finished. They take a long time. Download the demo and see if you like it.

I can happily recommend Sins of a Solar Empire, it's a brilliant space-based RTS whose scale is incredible. You can scroll out to a view of the galaxy and then zoom into an individual fighter craft by scrolling in, all in real time. Then there's the multitude of awesome mods out there for it, star wars, stargate - you name a popular Sci-Fi franchise and there's a high-quality mod for it.

Although Galactic Civilizations 2 is turn-based.

I don't mind turn based games or any of that, and yeah sins of a solar empire was pretty good, but it was entirely too long for a single round. The multiplayer was fun too though.

Do you want something more like Command & Conquer in space?

Hegemonia: Legions of Iron. This game did what Sins did, only H:LOI did it about six years earlier.

Sins of a Solar Empire.

Buy it, love it, never suggest any other space RTS.

(Except Homeworld)

What everyone else suggested. Sins of solar empire. My favorite strategy game so far since homeworld 2. The only downside about sins of solar empires gameplay wise is the inadequacy of planet defenses ( you have to heavily rely on your fleet since there is only one and not very effective type of defense)

the latest expansion.. entrenchment.. took care of that problem.. it adds more defense options
