As the title says, I'm in the market for some top quality 5.1 wireless headphones. I'll mostly be using them for gaming. What would you recommend?

I don't know of any 5.1 headphones that are wireless, but the best wireless headset I know of is the World of Warcraft Creative headset that costs 150$ at Newegg, and you can just use Creative's virtual surround since it's what most "surround" headsets use that are under 400$, rather than real 5.1 speakers built into he headset, but of course is nowhere near the real thing.

I would recommend the Turtle Beach X41. They work great for Xbox 360 right out of the box, and they just released the adapter to make the microphone function for the PC and PS3.

I've had Turtle Beach before. I bought a pair of X4's last May. I was hoping to get something better than Turtle Beach because the sound quality in the X4's wasn't as good as I'd like. Looks like they're as good as it gets for wireless 5.1, though. I might have to get the X41's. Thanks for the recommendation.

No problem. I think you will enjoy the upgrade from the X4 to the X41:

I bought the X41's today. You were right. They're much better than the X4's. I just used the X41's while I watched Avatar on Blu-ray. What a great set of headphones these X41's are. So comfortable and amazing sound. Using them for my first ever viewing of Avatar was quite an experience. Thanks for convincing me to take the plunge. It was money well spent.

That is your best bet. You are pretty limited on options for 5.1 wireless headsets.

I would go wired and get the Astro A30 or A40. I researched surround sound headphones heavily, and true surround sound (not simulated) requires wires. Once you go Astro, you never go back.

What an awesome way to try them out for the first time. That must have sounded amazing! The Dolby 7.1 headphone technology is more accurate than a home theater system as it does not need to contend with room acoustics.
