I'm looking into buying a new video card but i'm not sure what would be a good one to buy.

I'm looking for a decent card that i can get some good gaming out of. My budget would have to be up to $300 MAX.

So if anyone could give me any suggestions on what are some good cards and also maybe some sites that sell them for a good price, that would be awesome.

Thanks for your time and effort.

Make sure you have a decent PSU and a PCI-E x16 slot.

Open up the side of your case, you should find a label stating how many Watts and Amps on the 12V rail you have.

Ok, i have a new question now, is this a good 8800gt for the price?

link: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10096083&catid=

(also it is in stock at my local futureshop) I was just wondering if this is a good one and if the price is right, or if there is a better place to buy one for cheaper?

your help would be appreciated, thanks

I suggest you go for the ATI Radeon HD3850, you can pick it up for cheap and it offers absolutely awesome performance for such a cheap price.

Or you could go for the 8800GT which offers slightly better performance but could cost a bit more either way you go you wont be dissapointed they are both kick a** cards.

You can actually get an HD 3870 for $250. Sapphire also came out with a new one that takes a single slot, not too sure how well the fan is on that though, you could use the extra ~40 to buy a Duorb

That was a good deal, Topic poster, if you have something like a gateway or hp, your likely gonna have to upgrade your power supply also. Look on newegg.com, and type in "9800 gt" and "corsair power supply", try to get a 550 watt corsair brand powersupply. You should be just under $200 for those two parts. Get a technical person near you to install it all, or you can do it. It is very simple to install power supplies and graphics cards.

If you've got 300 to burn, go with a HD4850. That'll get you the best bang for the buck out there =)

Or if you can't afford a HD4850, go for a 8800GT.
