Looking To Buy RTS [Recommendations]

Please don't say COH, DoW, DoW2. Those are Horrible.

Along the lines of AGE of Empires II Conqs Expansion or Rise of Nations.

Supreme Commander, Empire Earth 2 and its expansion, World in Conflict

CoH isnt horrible, if a game is a bit different doesn't mean its bad

Warcraft 3 Reign of Chaos + Frozen Throne (expansion)

Its cheap and still awesome,community is still more than alive

From the looks of it, the TC wants a basebuilder-type RTS.

Try Cossacks, looks like ass though.

Rise & Fall lags like crap, even at lowest settings when filled when men. I wish they would remake Stronghold Crusader. Best empire builder ever with unique units.redneckdouglas

There is really no base building involved in DoWII, if that's what your looking for......

in short they through what was left of the generic rts template (large bases, huge resource spending, cannon fodder base infantry , generic bottom half GUI) out the window and into a burning dumpster.

in short if u hate being wheighed down by those great game, if u hate the change dont bother.

Quite old now, but still great fun.

Medieval II - Different RTS all togeather, not about building sthings as fast as possible, and overwhelming the enemy with vast numbers, more about classic battle tactics. Total War empires should be out soon as well.

I guess Starcraft 2 whenever that comes out...

First off, DOW 1 and COH are good rts. How can you say your looking to buy an RTS and hate those.

If you like AOE2, don't get AOE3, you'll be disappointed. Try Rise of Legends (RoN's sorta sequal). Or you can always just search gamespot for RTS and look at their reviews.

If the TC doesn't like those RTS games, it's his right to having an opinion, even though it may not be in agreement with that of others....that's how how he can say that.
