Mac Vs PC what works for me

The endless debate wages.

I am just putting away some money for a new computer. My plan is to have the money saved and purchase the computer a few weeks before Star Wars the Old Republic comes out, which by the way will be a game for windows. Now I am also a multimedia developer and work on 3d applications, web design, game design and so on, in which case it is very fashonable to buy a mac.

I was doing a bit of research clearly for the 2000-3000 i might pay for a mac i could build a far superior windows pc in terms of hardware, but how well will it actual compare for what i understand mac computers work better with less powerfull hardware.

Finaly I take my HD very seriously and it could be a deciding point, if i pay 2000 something for a new mac, thats going to come with a nice big 24 inch screen, i assume it is full HD, where as with my pc i would have to buy a 24 inch screen which will be costly. But i don't have to buy it right away because i have a LCD TV i can use for a while.

Anyone care to give some input.

Honestly its hard to say. I myself am a mac user. I have a Macbook Pro that is intel core 2 duo 2.5 ghx, 8600GT Card, and 4 GB of ram. I love it. Its great because i Myself am a designer like yourself, and i feel that when in the field of art and design there is no other way to go but get an apple. Also if i do say so my self my specs are not to shabby, so what i did was i put windoes on it with bootcamp. Now i also get to enjoy all these great PC games.

Honestly go with a mac its a great great computer. Yet it may be a little bias comming from me, a person who has been using mac his whole life.

Bad for servers

Bad for general programs (Cause mostly every program is Windows made) Useless. :)

Now I am not saying Windows is any better, I'm saying they're useless because they act as a desktop replacement yet a huge amount of programs don't work for them. (Obviously, they're based on Unix, not DOS)

Also I've used Macs and Windows 7, Macs are plain worse. A common distro of Ubuntu is much faster, so is Windows 7. So even though it shares the same code base as UNIX(Which is extremely efficient) They bloated it for people who don't know how to turn on a computer. The only nice thing about them is the terminal.

Uh buying an entire windows pc setup including everything will still end up being cheaper and better hardware-wise than the mac.

The screen on the Macs aren't even that great, you will pick up a much better one and hell, if you're so bent on "HD" why not get a 30'', and at 2500x1600 you don't get much more crisp, you will probably still come under budget too.

But using a PC puts you at a disadvantage when working and collaborating with others in design, art, music, film, etc. Alot of music edited and produced are done on Mac's. Same goes for film. And other entertainment venues. And to add to that, the highest scores on Geekbench are dominated by Mac's :P -Stefunny-

As long as you're using the same programs, files can easily be transferred back and forth between PCs and Macs.

The only time you'd really need a Mac is if it was Mac-only software, which is pretty rare.
