It will probably come out ( with better graphics and all the content from XBOX live ) in about a year and a half ( like they did with Jade Empire ). There IS a huge demand for ME on PC ( that's why BioWare made JE for PC ), but what we need to do is request it on the BioWare forum and make a lot of petitions, Plus, now that EA bought BioWare the chances are greatly increased. It will be much better on PC because mouse+keyboard>>>>>>>>>>>>joystick and because there will be lots of mods
BTW, Mass Effect is the best RPG ever made
1 - Microsoft love to port their big exclusives to the PC (eg. Halo and Gears of War).
2 - EA love to make multiplat games.
3 - Bioware have never made a console-exclusive game (JE held out for a while, but it was eventually ported).
I don't think that there should be any doubt that it will be on PC, but it may take a while.
I will come to PC eventually.thusaha
You'll come to PC ? Wow. That will include downloadable content like: 5 years of extra lifespan, 20% off your mortgage.
Doubt you'll be be Vista compatible though...
Specifications?
Is this game really that great? I've heard a ton of mixed opinions about it.amekhov
Mass Effect is the best RPG ever made. The GameSpot guy that reviewed ME obviously doesn't know anything about RPGs. Every other site and magazine gave it above 9:

It only suffers from some technical bugs that can will certainly be fixed in the PC version
Is it just me or i'm I the only person who doesn't want a straight port?
I want it optimised for the PC, with extra content, with decent controls not just some slapdash port.

Me too. Hopefully, after a year of porting, they make it in a way that supports PC.
Ray Muzyka has made it quite clear that ME will only be for the 360. In fact just a few weeks before launch he said "Our focus is pure and simple; it's to deliver the best game possible for our fans with Mass Effect, and that's an Xbox 360 exclusive." and thats a direct quote. He's been saying this kind of stuff for almost two years now. I doubt he is pulling our leg. That being said, he has also made it quite clear that he does not mean that if ME does well and becomes a series it will be kept from the PC. He has said that if other ME games follow then they will infact look at the PC and other consoles. I have no doubt that another ME title has been given the green lite and the PC will be a major factor to consider.
For those here on the PC forum who dont have a 360 (and therefore dont have ME) let me say that it's a story that can be expanded. There is no need to feel that a part two would leave you cut off from the orginal ME. I would hazard to say it more like the dramatic, spiritual successor to the Star Control series (if you played all three games to get the full story). I'm not going to give anything away as this game has quite a few paths to follow and is well worth a 2nd or 3rd playthrough. As designed though it would not do as well on the PC. It's a bit limited in options and it's action is ver run 'n gun that works well on a console. Limited RPG elements would leave most PC players feeling it to be more of a letdown. Still it's a well done game with a solid story. There is much potential for a more PC based RPG in a future ME title. Just not this one. This is made for console players and it does it's job well. If you (as a PC gamer) have thought about getting a 360 then this should be a title to consider when you get it. I promise you that by the time you get to the last 1/4 of the game you you will be glued to it and want to replay it. Until then, just make wishes known over at Bioware's forum that you want to see any future ME games made for the PC. I'm a computer gamer (and have been since I got my first one in '79), but ME1 is a console game that just wouldnt work as well on the PC. My two cents anyway.
/\ Ahem.
Every Bioware game is on PC.
Every Bioware game dubbed exclusive for XBox has been on PC. GeoW was apparantly exclusive (lems used the same argument). Halo 3 will even be ported.ect. ect.
They dont care about the formula on a PC platform - they want to sell as many copies of the game as they can - and stick to platforms that gaurentee profit per port.
skrat_01 , not every Bioware title is on the PC. ME is the first of several titles that did not make the PC cut. Point of fact is Bioware is starting to diversify it's investments. When the CEO and one of the founding members of the company says something is or isnt going to happen (and they have kept their word in the past) I have no problem taking them at it. So I ask you skrat_01, where is your proof that Ray Muzyka is going to go back on his word. Also, have you played through ME and if so why in the world would you think that it would make a good PC port? Take a look at theircurrent dev line and you'll see they have anumber of future titles that will never go to the PC and for good reason. Those titles are being devloped with their console player in mind. Trust me, Sonic DS will not really "gaurentee profit" on porting it to a PC.
Well the fact is, often times when a game is called "exclusive", especially such a claim that is made by MS, the PC simply doesn't count. They mean Xbox360 exclusive, and theres always a chance the game could be brought to PC.
Yet it could have been argued Jade Empire wouldent have made a good port - and it was ported.skrat_01 , not every Bioware title is on the PC. And your Soinc DS port is illogical. Porting a 360 game to PC, especially considering the Bioware fanbase on PC, and its forumla - which would appeal to PC user (hell primary evidence - I have a few PC gamer - RPG loving mates who really want the game).
Even if the game is designed to have future 360 sequals, it will still end up on PC imo. Epic said there was no current plans for a PC version GeoW at realease (even bearing the 'only for 360 tag on the box'), same with Jade Empire on the Xbox, hell if memory serves me correct even Kotor initally.
Its anyones guess - but looking at Biowares development history with the Xbox, and strong ties with the PC - im still adament it will go to PC.
Never the less - personally - I dont care. I have a 360 to play it on.

i want dragon age more than ME
Nah, I'm sick of all this fantasy games, Sci-fi is much better and Mass Effect will be better than Dragon Age because of the dialog system and because it's much more cinematic than Dragon Age
BioWare makes great ports. ME for PC will be with better graphics ( like they did with Jade Empire ), less bugs, better gameplay ( because mouse+keyboard>>>>>>>gamepad ) and all the downloadable content from XBOX live ( new planets, sidequets etc. ). Plus, there will be a lot of mods
Jade Empire, Halo 2, Gears of War were also going to be exclusive for XBOX, but were released for PC (And there IS a HUGE demand for Mass Effect on PC)
Like I said we need to keep asking at the BioWare forum ( annoy them a bit ) and make petitions
"And your Soinc DS port is illogical." skrat_01
My comment was clearly in regards to you saying "Every Bioware game is on PC." and therefore it's not "illogical" as you put it. It's quite relevant to your orginal post.
"Even if the game is designed to have future 360 sequals, it will still end up on PC imo." - skrat_01
Well, I never said that future sequals would only be on the 360. I quite clearly said that future titles in the series would be considered for any platform. I have no idea where you got confused. Please reread my orginal post. I'm quite sure that future titles in the series will make it to the PC and maybe even the PS3. I have no reason to think that the head of Bioware would lie touser baseand his investors just because you think so. The OP asked for "official info" on wether or not ME would come to the PC. I posted a direct quote from the head of the comapny. You call me on his direct quote and imply that it's a lie. Fine, thats your business. Again, I ask that you show some proof that he is lying about it. While were at it, just what did I do to you that causes you to go off topic and start into it with me? What exactly is your problem?

Bold statement (haha just realized I put it in Bold), I'll still contend Bioware's BG2 is the best for now, but I look forward to ME.

sci fi like those present in ME i.e space ships , planets etc is also quite old, nothing new and i would prefer a good fantasy over it any day. i don't know how dialog system would be better or not, but i am not interested in how cinematic DA is going to be.
ps : what do you think is so great about dialogue system in ME that it can't be beaten ?

Because Shepard actually talks ( has voice ) and the dialog is very cinematic
Dragon Age will be like a classic RPG ( imagine Neverwinter Nights 2 x5 )

Most people consider the first epic RPG they played the best. It's just a trick of the mind. People who played Jade Empire before they played KOTOR will tell you that JE is better. People will actually tell you that the best RPGs are for NES
Planescape: Torment is much better than Baldur's Gate. Most great new RPGs are better than older RPGs because older RPGs lack 1 thing: VOICE ACTING because it's almost all text. If I wanted a book I would buy one, I wouldn't buy a role playing GAME
BTW, before Mass Effect, SW KOTOR was my favourite RPG

I'll have to disagree on several points, I played BG before PT and BG2, and it is not as good as either. There's no "trick of the mind" with me.
....and yes, BG2 is a slightly better game than PT, but I'll give u this, its close.

I said EPIC ( Baldur's Gate 1 doesn't feel very epic )
It all depends what you want from a game: if you want to mindlessly kill all the time you favourite RPG is Diablo, if you want the RPG to be long then it's Baldur's Gate, if you want it to have many choices then it's Planescape: Torment, if you want to roam everywhere kill anyone you like and not use your head at all then it's Oblvion, if you want it to be cinematic you're favourite is Mass Effect ( that's why Metal Gear Solid is my all time favourite game )
BTW, Planescape: Torment or any Baldur's Gate aren't in my TOP 5 RPGs

I'm sure we all want this.
I don't know if this game will definitely come to the PC, but I would not be surprised if it did. People in this thread have already made good points as to why it will eventually come to the PC. All I can do is hope it'll be ported over one day. Yet another reason to hold off from buying a 360 8)

hm.. i don't care for actual voice or cinematic dialogues. i love dialogues that are funny and clever. i would take over the huge dialogue options present in planescape torment over any kind of fully cinematic but limited voiceovers

yeah, i played first bg2, then fallout and then pt and these are my top 3 rpgs but in the opposite order of which i played them

Yea KOTOR is def one of my favorites and one of the best RPGs i ever played, thats why ME looks so appealing because it looks similar but even bigger.
But back to the topic...
I'm not a business major yet but I'm guessing that Microsoft pays Bioware to keep ME exclusive to the 360 during the holiday season and for a year. Of course Bioware wants to release it for PC because they reach more people and make more $$$, but microsoft must be giving them a decent cut to say its exclusive and wait another year before releasing on PC. I don't think theres any doubt it will eventually be coming to PC, I was just wondering if there was any new when.
