Mass Effect or The Witcher..

Which one would you reccommend getting?

Mass Effect

Mass Effect is good but the side quests in the game are terrible. The witcher will last much longer and is enjoyable all the way through.

The Witcher...but only get the "Extended Edition" the graphics and voice acting are a lot crappier on the regular version. And it has a crapload of extras on the extended version.IMaBIOHAZARD

Ok for one its called the "Enhanced Edition' not "Extended"

Also people who have the original game can just download the extras to their game. The only difference is that their digital instead of physical.

ME is a nice production but too short. The Witcher is a much more satisfying experience. You should play ME eventually, but I'd wait.

When Witcher EE just came out, I had a poll on these forums posing the same question. The Witcher won by votes, like 65% to 35%. I ended playing both games and thought they were both great. I think what it comes down to is if you are in the mood for guns or swords.

damn thats a really tough choice. My personal perference is towards Mass Effect, because i personally LOVE the cinematic style of gameplay, but you really cant go wrong with either game. I havent finished the witcher yet, i got it a few weeks ago, but i've heard its good for 60 hours on a single playthrough.

Mass Effect has about 20hours per play through, more or less depending on the number of side quests you do, but its definitley good for at least 2 playthoughs. I played through it twice, and it was still fun and fresh by the end of the second playthrough, i can see going through it for a third time.

you really cant go wrong with either game, as someone else said, its up to personal genre/setting preference.

Witcher is a lot longer and has more replay value

I like both games, but I enjoyed The Witcher's storyline a lot more. I'd play The Witcher before Mass Effect, if it were me.

absolutely the witcher

mass effect is nice, but the plot in the witcher is simply fantastic

i haven't felt such a feeling of catharsis when finishing a game since kotor

mass effect is more combat oriented, but witcher is more story oriented, and that's what matters

They're both awesome and will suck you in. Try to get both if possible, you won't regret it.

Mass Effect, but thats because im biased for it. i played Witcher for 3 hours, but IMO it got repetitive early on. plus im a sci-fi freak and the story and graphics is simply outstanding. go for it bubba!!cayne_phoenix

The first 5 or so hours of the game are pretty damn boring, it takes some time to get rolling, but by the time you get to the end of chapter 1 the game gets really good and stays that way.

I bought The Witcher: Enhanced Edition about a month and a half ago. Haven't looked back since. It's one game i'd recommend fo sho.

The only good thing in Mass Effect is the dialogue system.

Both games are excelent, they have a deep and exciting story, awesome gameplay. If you are an RPG fan i say you should have both.

Mass Effect crashes on my PC quite often.. I'm lucky to get thru an hour, without it crashing. And before Nvidia released a compatible driver for the game, it wouldn' t play at all. Took Nvidia about 8 months to do that. Before then, only the 169.21's would allow the game to be playable on my system.

Witcher EE, is stable on my PC, but I have a problems with a blur effect not disappearing after any dialog choice. Which the game is loaded with. There is a hotpatch that is supposed to fix that, along with an EAX error. But on my PC, the Hotpatch breaks the FMV's in the game by cutting out the sounds that are embedded in the .bik movies. Only the in-game sound and voicework can be heard, while the .bik sounds cut in and out. The hot patch seems to work for most other people, though...

As for commonality with KOTOR... both games, pretty much,have that. Although... I guess Witcherhas more in common with Jade Empire...
