Just got my gaming PC and got Mass Effect but it keeps saying to download the latest version (this is a prompt given as a Microsoft solution to the problem). I downloaded a patch and some downloadable content but still not playing. Anyone have this problem? Am I missing something on the website? I was all amped up but my PC gaming birth is not going so well yet.

I'm not really sure what specific problem youre running into. I too also recently bought Mass Effect for my new gaming rig. I registered the game on Bioware's website and that allowed me to download the DLC that was released a few months back and that effectively updated my game to the latest version and I have not had any problems with the game loading up as well as playing it. I'd suggest registering the game and downloading the most recent DLC from Bioware's site.

Yeah lol, Bring Down the Sky. Try reinstalling the game. What's the problem, does it not run at all or it crashes?

Doesn't run at all when you click play?? Then Microsoft searches for a "colution to the problem" Then says to go to website and download the "latest" version. I can uninstall and re-install (although the insallation was a little lengthy). Can you play offline as well?

Yes you can play offline, it doesn't have anything that requires a connection to the internet, except when you install it and it needs to verify your disc.

Also just to be sure, what are your PC's specs and are you using XP or Vista?

If you have the latest video driver and if your laptop doesn't have any problems it should work. You should try reinstalling it, if you have time, and just install the patch, make sure it works and only after that install the DLC.

Just came out of the box so I hope it has the latest video driver. I did insert the disc to make sure but no prompt to install. I'll double check though. Thanks for advice, I appreciate.

I un-installed Mass Effect but can't reload right now until I get home tomorrow. So I tried loading up Fallout 3 and it worked and looked great! When I was logging off however, I got the same error message. I wonder if there is some Vista setting or something going on. Only problem is I am pretty illiterate about troubleshooting this?
