The trailer was ****ing amazing. It's too bad that's not in-game lol.Swiftstrike5

Agreed. The trailer was quite impressive.

AND- according to the IGN interview at least, that trailer actually WAS done with the in-game graphics; courtesy of the unreal 3 Engine (Yes, the interview confirmed that the Unreal 3 engine is what powers the game if I remember correctly).

Addmitedly, my only experience with mechwarrior was the mechwarrior 3 demo, which I quite enjoyed. Now that mechwarrior 4 will soon be available for free download- I think I'll be trying it out while looking forward to the new Mechwarrior.

Beware, MW4 is the worst. MW2 and 3 were much better. By all means give it a shot, but just know you're playing the worst of the series, lol.

I really enjoyed MW4 Mercs. I used to play MW3, but I can't remember what it was like. Then there was that really old Arena based mech game. I can't remember what it was called, but you used to run around in an arena and fight another mech. The ref was also there to make sure you didn't use any illegal weapons, but you'd just shoot em (drone).

MW2 was butchered on PS1! Lol, if you can, get a hold of MW2 Titanium and run it on XP (there is a patch to run it on XP), that game is amazing on PC.

I for one am excited about this new installment of MechWarrior. Yes, the developer is unproven, but that doesn't mean they can't make a good MechWarrior. I think the dev of Fallout 3 was highly doubted by fans of Fallout, but they definately proved that they can make a good Fallout game for sure.

This MechWarrior definately looks more simmy than MechAssault. I am also pretty sure that there is locational damage since the Atlas got his arm blown off and it also looked like his autocannon got disabled. I am going to be optimistic about this game and I hope that it will be a TRUE MechWarrior, not some arcadey piece of crap like MechAssault.

According to this, the developer[Piranha] has a pretty impressive resume.....

"According to Voodoo Extreme's teaser, Piranha Games will be developing the MechWarrior title, though no platforms were specified. Based in Vancouver, Canada, Piranha was formed in 2000 and has contributed to a number of high-profile titles, including Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Need for Speed Undercover, and the recently released Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Pirahna's Web site also notes that it is currently working on "a AAA licensed franchise on the Xbox 360, Wii, and PS3."

Sounds like they have a track record to me...hope I'm not mistaken.

Thank God!!!! I've been waiting for a new MechWarrior since MechWarrior 2 and all of its greatness. I think they can pull of a pseudo simulator title with this Mechwarrior. I think the Xbox 360 controller has enough buttons and axis to play MW2 alright if you think about it. The things I hated about MW4 were the arcade like aspects, the first being the third person view. Sure it gave you the option for a first person view, but the first person view didn't even have personalized cockpits for each mech, and the mech didn't even rock up and down while it walked or ran. Most people ended up defualting to 3rd person for the wider field of view. Here is to hoping there is a good amount of depth and good graphics!

Judging from the trailer, it already looks 1000X better than MW4.Marfoo

lol, nope. MW4 and its expansions were fantastic. What you mentioned there were superficial features anyway. i wouldn't call a game bad just becaue the screen didn't shake when you walk. wait. it did. so... yea.

It's a decent game, but when I play MechWarrior, I want to feel like I'm in advanced war machine. I never said it was a bad game, but those things alone took out a lot of the immersion to me. I'm just calling them as I see them. When I play MW2, I feel more immersed as MechWarrior Pilot then when I played 4.

With all this talk of a new Mechwarrior coming out, I went back and just for fun, re-installed my MW 2, 3 and 4(Vengeance) to get an old taste. MW 2 31st Century Combat wouldn't install at all...MW 3 installed, but when running it had a ton of artifacts and MW 4 installed and runs OK except I couldn't get any Video (just audio) on the opening and in-game cinamatics.....When I get a little more time, I'll look around and see if I can find any fixes to be able to run them on Vista.....Had a blast playing around with MW 4 last night.....I forgot how much content there was.

Well, my excitement lasted all but 2 days. The game is coming to 360 and PC. While it could still be good, the chances that PC won't be simplified to suit a 360 controller is slim. I just can't see a real simulator working on a 360 controller. I tried to play Mechwarrior 4 on a 360 controller (didn't have a mouse just a touchpad), but I still had to use a large amount of keyboard controls.
