My question is: Will your imported game save affect major choices in the game, therefore, impacting one of sixteen different endings. (:

Elann2008

We don't know yet. We do know that the start of the game changes depending on what choices you made in the first game, and that some of our items will carry over.

[QUOTE="macronia"][QUOTE="Elann2008"]

Depends on how you play, but it will definitely be 20+ hours. Some say 40+. I mean, 16 different endings. (: It's gotta be pretty long.

You can read about it here

I'm replaying The Witcher now. I'm not sure how much your game save affects The Witcher 2 but I no longer have my original game saves so I'll be replaying TW1 the entire weekend. I kinda want to get back into The Witcher world to get a bit warmed up. (:

Elann2008

I own witcher 1 but didn't finish it and i want to replay it too but if it really worth it , i mean save game will affect the story , i will wait ur comment about it :D

You should finish it even if you don't care about the game save. I read that depending on the choices you made in TW1, certain important characters will react differently to you. Obviously at this point, they're not revealing much due to massive spoilers. We'll soon find out Tuesday. (:

"There will be a mechanism for importing your status from the first game," one member of developer CD Projekt RED explains. "Also, players will see the choices they made in part one reflected in part two. For instance, certain characters from The Witcher might treat us differently depending on how we completed that game."

Taken from here.

My question is: Will your imported game save affect major choices in the game, therefore, impacting one of sixteen different endings. (:

They're keeping very quiet about what exactly an imported save will change to avoid spoilers. Im really curious though.

That's good to know! I'm glad they're keeping it "hush-hush" though. Makes the anticipation for TW2 even greater. And the plot thickens! (:

That doesn't mean what I think it does...does it? Or did I miss something there?

Lol. That's not what it means at all. I think you misunderstand the "PS3" part. :P

actually yes... that is exactly what it means. they intend to bring the witcher 2 to consoles, just not right now. nice try though.

PS = post script. Nice try though. (: But if you really want to go there. They canned the first witcher game for consoles. I don't think The Witcher 2 would benefit from the console market. Why you may ask? Console gamers playing The Witcher 2 would have probably never played TW1 because it's a PC exclusive. The console market would never appreciate a PC game like The Witcher 2, let alone TW1. I highly doubt it would ever happen. But if the idea makes you giddy like a school girl at prom night, then be my guest. (:

The correct way to write PS3 is PPPS because PS means Post Script. The PS3 was an intentional nod to the Playstation 3.

Let's say you're right. What about Xbox 360? Why was that system not hinted in there? A PC timed-exclusive, only ported to one console system? Now, why would a smart developer like CD Projekt RED do that?

And I don't think they would throw in some hint or clue to console gamers when they're sending out a message to the PC community. Why mix the two? Why not just make a separate announcement or hint to console gamers with a different message in a different time. Why do this when the PC exclusive game is about to come out in just a few days. Just doesn't make any sense. If I'm wrong, then this is really distasteful.

ok, just for the sake of argument im going to ASSUME you are completely unfamiliar with the development of the witcher 2.... because it certainly seems so.

it has been said multiple times that CD projekt intends to bring the game to consoles. PS3 specifically. however, it has been stated many times that they cannot do it right now, and that it may happen in the future.

therefor, if you are familiar with the game and its development, you can see that this is a clear indication that they still intend to release the game for the PS3. XBOX360 has never been stated as an intention, but PS3 has been.

NICE TRY THOUGH. please try to act less snide in the future when you clearly are uninformed on a topic.

Can be done either or, if you noticed PS3 didn't appear out of mid-air, they did go PS1, PS2, PS3 (Or are we implying that they're porting it for all Playstation consoles?). But CDProjekt has always looked at the consoles, they scrapped the original and I don't know if they've gotten any further drawing board for a console port for 2. And I'm fine with a console port, so long as the game is designed for PC hardware and controls.

I'm very familiar with the development of The Witcher 2. They have talked about.. and that is all. No clear sign that they are going to port it over to consoles. Just rumors. But you sound like you want this to happen. Why would you want an adored franchise and developer to port The Witcher 2 to the consoles? You know that will only spell doom right? I'm not an elitist, but I kinda want certain games to remain PC exclusive. I have a PS3 and Xbox 360 as well, for their exclusives. I wouldn't want The Witcher franchise to step foot into the console territory given any chance.

Snide? You're assuming I don't know about their talks about a console version. I am well aware of that. But thank you for being mature about it. I appreciate the name-calling. And you really had to edit your OP just to throw it in there. Real tasteful. (:

Just bought it yesterday. I usually don't pre-order games, since I've been burned before, but this just looked too amazing to pass up.

Out of curiosity, why not?

Ehh... there are better games, I have my plate full as it is, and I'm not a huge fan of Japanese games, especially JRPGs. Plus the way the dude holds swords in the first. But seriously, I'd play a BioWare game over the Witcher ANY day.

No, I don't like bad RPGs. The first game turned me off of the series - bad combat, recycled NPCs, garbled story. A little T & A just can't make up for all that. As the old saying goes, you can't put lipstick on a pig.

I read that they are delaying Mass Effect 3 and working on it to make it appeal to a "wider audience." I don't know what that entails.. but take it with a grain of salt.

Wider audience = TEH SHOOTURZ PEWPEW = Even less RPG elements (but ME2 was a TPS!) = Reviewers and users vastly overrating it as "Best game/RPG of all time."....= MOAR MINERAL MINING!

Personally I don't really think any of those things made it a bad RPG - the roleplaying itself was really good, the story gets much better as it goes along, and the combat isn't particularly bad (especially if you use signs to keep things interesting).

Also, why would the first game's flaws have any impact on the second game? They've got money and great feedback now, so I'm sure that everything is in order this time around.

Lol. That's not what it means at all. I think you misunderstand the "PS3" part. :P

what does it mean then?

I can't think of anything else it was hinting at?

Maybe they are referring to the day when PC gaming becomes mainstream again and everyone recognizes our god-like essence?

If you guys had noticed it also says PS1 and PS2 above PS3. Think about that for a sec.... ok, now do you still think they are talking about PS3? or do you think perhaps just maybe they're adding a "PS" usually found at the end of letters. Hahah

how could it possibly spell doom for a wonderful game to be played by even more people.... and for CD projekt to make even more money? you are being absurd, and clearly NOT aware that CD projekt is a PC first, console second developer. they have said it many times.

[QUOTE="Elann2008"] I read that they are delaying Mass Effect 3 and working on it to make it appeal to a "wider audience." I don't know what that entails.. but take it with a grain of salt.Elann2008

Wider audience = TEH SHOOTURZ PEWPEW = Even less RPG elements (but ME2 was a TPS!) = Reviewers and users vastly overrating it as "Best game/RPG of all time."....= MOAR MINERAL MINING!

The "glass half full" guy in me thinks that.. Point being, I really hope I'm wrong, lol. ME2 barely had any RPG elements in it.

wat.... so applying skills.... making choices.... affecting the world...putting on armor and weapons with different stats.....running main quests and side quests.... all of those, which constitute the majority of mass effect 2, arent RPG elements? *rolls eyes*

I'll pick it up if they made the combat deeper from the original and got rid of the billions of crap items you run across that quickly clog up your inventory.

Definitely after a couple price drops. I wasn't a big fan of the original, but it was worth about $20 to me, and I'm sure they've improved significantly with this one.

[QUOTE="realguitarhero5"] Ehh... there are better games, I have my plate full as it is, and I'm not a huge fan of Japanese games, especially JRPGs. Plus the way the dude holds swords in the first. But seriously, I'd play a BioWare game over the Witcher ANY day.Elann2008

It sounded like you called TW2 a JRPG

*Ssshhh!* Let him have his moment. ;)

Shows ya'll how much I really care about the game.

I'm getting more interested in it. I have been trying off and on for the last 2 months to get into Witcher 1 and figured I would try yet again last night and load it up for 10-15 minutes. 4 hours later with me passing out at the keyboard very late at night made me to realize that this game is in fact very awesome! :)

The first one is in my backlog of games, and I just started mass effect 1. Did you guys enjoy mass effect or the witcher better?

I'm waiting for a price drop. I still have a few rpgs to play through and didn't like the first one as much as a lot of people on here.

straight from wikipedia: "Mass Effect 2 is an action role-playing game developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts." From the ESRB (you know... the people who rate and define games...?): "In this action role-playing game," please show me anywhere were the game is not described as an RPG. Too bad YOU are wrong. it is an RPG, again, end of discussion.

So by his logic is TES a hack-and-slash game?

Here's the story. I upset him about the PS being a post script, so he won't let go and has come back nearly 24 hours later to quote me on a DIFFERENT subject (mass effect 2). We all know it barely had RPG elements. It's more a third-person action-shooter than anything. If you ripped out the constant dialogue encounters, it would be categorized mainly as an action-shooter. (:

It's quite entertaining actually. Better to be quoted than not ever. ;o)
