[QUOTE="GazaAli"]I played the game back 2009 I think. Good game but absolutely nothing spectacular.cain006
You should've played it in 2004/05.
I played it in 2010. A good game will stand the test of time. Hell I played FEAR last year and it's probably my favorite single player fps and it came out 1 year after HL2. I think even Half Life would be better were it not for the horrible ending of the game.Half-Life 2 stands the test of time just as Metroid Prime does for console games. Great games can do that.
[QUOTE="KHAndAnime"] Playing Half-Life 2 in 2010 would be like playing Crysis for your first time now and judging it based on that. People playing these games out of context have little clue. AjaxNeronI only just got around to playing Crysis this summer and I'm finding it to be a superb game. That doesn't mean I don't agree with you, in fact I do - If I would have played it back when it came out with a rig that could run it on high/highest, I would have been even more amazed.
Crysis was good but overrated.

Metroid Prime does. Half Life 2 ages horribly (implying it was ever good in the first place.)
I honestly think the vast majority of people who still think HL2 is good are blinded by nostalgia.

HL2 was good when it launched. It pushed graphics forward and also introduced story, pacing, character development and even puzzle with guns. The game is now 10 years old, so obviously it's going to show it's age. You can still play it and have fun and it's still a solid game, but probably won't have the impact it had if you played it at launch. It's NOT nostalgia, the game is good, or else it wouldn't get so many praises from everywhere.[QUOTE="AFBrat77"]

nah it's still superior to your favorite game.

Metroid Prime is still amazing. I can go back and play it and find new things, and the graphics are still decent. HL2 looks amazing considering when it came out, but graphics aren't really that important. The game just isn't that fun to me.[QUOTE="AFBrat77"]

It is FAR better than Halo, which it inexplicably is compared with (since they were GC and XBox flagship titles).
I think Half-Life 2 is close, though I have always liked Prime better. 2 of the only games I've given perfect scores to, though I enjoyed the 2 Episodes of HL2 better than the original game.
[QUOTE="FelipeInside"][QUOTE="ShadowsDemon"]You have to be kidding. One of the worst games I've ever played.ShadowsDemonWhat???? Honestly, I respect everyone's opinion but to say HL2 is a crap game or one of the worst you have ever played is either trolling or just plain doesn't know what good gaming is. (I understand that maybe you didn't like it) Please, let me ask you, what do YOU consider a great game? I'm not trolling. I have the game on Steam. And what do I consider a great game? The Witcher 2. Batman: Arkham City. Silent Hill 2.
I've got a bunch of friends who don't like the Half-Life series because they find it too linear. o.o I respect your opinion, especially because you actually own the game, unlike them. :P

Meh. I've spent more time in NOLF2, and UT3 than I did in Half-Life 2. It has some features and doesn't have other features. Calling it "the best" is meaningless.

Well I can say my self that I actually prefered FEAR1 to HL2 which was released like a year later.. But unlike FEAR.. HL2 was just a complete package with CSS.. Not to mention the endless slew of mods.

FEAR is much better than HL2 hands down.
Imo FEAR failed on what it promised to have. It came out in 2005 in the same month with Condemned: Criminal Origins and Call of Cthulhu and it was the least scary. Then the expansions (and later FEAR 2 and 3) came out and destroyed any hope for the series. Same thing happened with Far Cry 2 and Crysis 2.
HL1 and HL2 were both great games. But I am sure if HL3 is very bad everyone is going to forget about them.
F.E.A.R. failed on what it promised to have? Have you been smoking? It delivered in spades. The game was advertised as a full blood shooter with tons of John Woo action and a paranormal story. This entire "horror aspect" lended itself to the game only at the end of the developing cycle. But it was never intended to be the core element. So don't make up any lies, bro! Beside as soon as someone mentions this, I already know more then enough ... It is like I would say: I am not going to hire this candidate for being an accountant in my company because he doesnot have green eyes. Get a grip and learn to distinguish what is relevant or not in a certain situation. Edit: F.E.A.R. 2 and 3 sucked donkeyballs. Please Log In to post.
