Being only £4.99 / $7.50, is it worth me purchasing it? Please bear in mind I didn't like STALKER and I like games similiar to Call of Duty.

Well you're in luck, it's very similar to COD, in the design at least. It's linear and full of scripted events. The graphics are also this years best, if your PC can handle it.

The game is nothing like STALKER, Metro 2033 is linear and narative driven. The game is about immersion and trying to pull you into the world.

The guns can feel...light, its not the best shooter, but as an experience its a very good game.

The graphics are stunning and the world is very interesting. Its not a high action experience like COD but it will get your pulse racing.

I think its a very good game, but shooty shooty I need to kill somthing now people wont like it.

It's an okay game it's nothing special. Think COD meets Stalker.

I personally loved it, get it. Only if you can run it though, it's even more demanding than Crysis.

It is a nice, scary game. Be sure your PC can run it tho. My couldnt. Think it had something to do with DirectX.

Dammit, i have such a large backlog of games and I've bought a few recently that I've yet to get into properly! But i just bought a GTX460 and this would be the ultimate test.

For today and tomorrow. Steam's sales last two days up until the 20th of December.

Metro 2033 is an acceptable atmospheric shooter fit for one playthrough. Your actions throughout the game determine whether or not you become aggressive with the will to live, or enlightened in the quest to understand. The shooting is clunky, especially when playing it with the ranger DLC, but it's probably worth the money. There are plenty of memorable moments, like the trolley ride through Nazi-held tunnels, and the recommissioning of an old Soviet nuclear silo within a decrepit base.

I don't get the CoD comparison at all. I mean yea they are both linear, but that is about it. I don't know why every game these days has to be CoD, but meh. Metro 2033 is a fantastic game, with great atmosphere, fun gameplay, and a pretty good story. Go for it.

At that price, indulge yourself provided that you have a decent rig. The game is not the best shooter, but it excels in atmosphere, story, visuals, voice-acting. It worth the purchase alone for the 'ride' so to speak.

I don't get it either. I hate CoD single-player and love Metro. Metro is very different from both CoD and STALKER.

I think it's pretty obvious they took some pointers from COD. With all the scripted events. Like for example, you are almost never alone, always with someone guiding you, opening doors for you. Or there were times when some enemy would jump your buddy, and you would watch some animation where they wrestle and you can't really do much about it. But Metro had the option of stealth in some cases though, which i really liked. It was well implemented too, i almost always used stealth.

I haven't finished it yet, but what I've played so far of it, the game is AWESOME. I really like the weapons and shooting mechanics, and the setting and atmosphere are top-notch. The story has been quite interesting so far. I'd definitely recommend the game.
