As a PC user I would like the idea too. But I am sure it would not happen, because of piracy rates. What's the point of porting the game knowing probably more than half of it's user will not pay for it. I am sure top games will stop making their way to the PC in the future.

By that rationalization why port anything to PC? Ever? Clearly there are many devs who do think PC gaming is worth while.

That said I doubt it, MGS4 will only appear on platforms with considerable incentives, that's when Sony's existing contract runs out.

MGS was marketed to only be on playstation, why bring it to PC?

And on the piracy topic, theres still plenty of games being ported, i buy all mine and i know a lot of people that have mod chips on their consoles.

It's great rationalization. Given the state of the economy and how many problems publishers are having, what is the point in porting something to an oft-pirated platform? It's like throwing precious resources to the wind.

ever see 360 piracy rates ... they are creeping up. And its easier than PC pirating these days as there is no copy protection once you get around the initial "doesnt read burned DVD issue" PC piracy is over rated and its scared devs senseless.

MSG 4 is nothing special really... And to the "PC GAMING IS DYING" comments: All I can say is that general gaming is dying, but only pc gamers are smart enough to see it happening.

MGS4 on PC would be awful... look at the MGS2 port if you need any further proof. MGS is one series that just was not meant for the keyboard and mouse.

What about the original metal gear.... MX86 computer ring a bell? What about the original Metal Gear solid? PC port anyone? And MGS 2 Substance? Ported. They haven't done MGS 3 to my knowledge, so it might come out one day, but don't hold your breath.

MGS4 would play fabulously on the PC - incredible graphics being even better on a PC, and with the keyboard we will have much more fluid control over snake than I had on the PS3 a while back. The issue is that MGS4 is centred around hugely long cutscenes, and unless you have a widescreen, high def TV and an amazingly comfortable chair, I wouldn't ever think of watching them on the PC. Of course you can skip the cutscenes but that's just cutting out the whole story.

Sure it would play nicely, but the overall experience will be somewhat bleh on the PC.

That's the thing for me, it woul work well because I have my PC hooked up to an HDTV, and I have a spare ps3 controller. However, I am a relatively small market. Besides, I'm probably getting a ps3 anyway. I do also have to agree with poor controls for MGS on the pc, unless you have a controller!

id love a metroid prime on PC. never going to happen of course (there is a mod in the works..but id doubt itll ever see the light of day in a finished state) but it would be epic. .......just thought id put that out there :P as for MGS4.....i doubt it. the game is really developed for the playstation hardware.....porting it would require a significant investment to basically rebuild the technology for the PC. its possible of course...but i dont see konami doing it. however with multiplat becoming dominant..i wouldnt be surprised to see a MGS5 on the PC. kojima-san also mentioned that he would like to work on the PC at some stage..though he doesent want to work on another MGS game.

I would love to play MGS4 (I don't have a PS3). However I don't think it's likely that we'll see a PC port for several reasons:

1) Size. It was announced that the game used up the full size of the Blue ray disk. That's 50 Gigs. While I've no idea if or how much it could be compressed you'd still realistically be looking at 5+ DVD's and a potential huge installation size.

2) Given the already huge size it's unlikely that they'd be able to increase the texture quality and resolution (doing so would drastically increase the already large size of the game). By NOT increasing the graphical quality they'd be loosing one of the possible advantages of a port.

3) I would imagine that the conversion would be fairly complex given that code was written to take full advantage of the PS3's architecture.

MGS4 is so large because all of its sound is uncompress/lossless, probably the same for all the cut scenes while not uncompressed I doubt they went to any length to conserve their size.

Hell I bought a PS3 just to play the game and I am formost a PC gamer ! After completing the game I ended up giving the PS3 to my son. MGS4 would be good on the PC for the online content. It sucks playing online with a game pad I just cant get into it.

The control scheme has been improved since MGS3 and now feels like a normal control scheme with a normal third person camera. MGS4 also has a somewhat normal first person view. It could easily be incorporated into kb/m and feel like a normal pc action game. The only exception is that there is one boss that requires a special motion sensing control to beat, which involves rocking the ps3 controller to mimic holding and shaking the boss.
