Do you think M$ fear Sony so much thats the reason you dont see M$ games coming to the PC anymore? I ain't got a console but im calling it like i see it. Few years ago M$ Xbox was doing alot better then Sony's PS3. It had alot of exclusives, it was cheaper and graphics were no different between the two consoles. But now i noticed that Sony's PS3 has come back and is owning M$. Its gone cheaper, way better exclusive games. And those exclusives games show how much better PS3 graphics are against the Xbox's Halo and Gear of war.

I think M$ are very worried about the PS3 and its much better game collection. Its ignoring its very own OS and the PC gamers that use it. And for that M$ can suck my left testicle im going to buy a PS3 and its exclusives.

First of all, whats wrong with the right one?

Microsoft is a business first and they saw greater potential in consoles. Whats the point of keeping it on PC when they can put on 360 as well and get more of a market.

I didn't vote. It's got nothing to do with Microsoft. Windows is just an operating system, nothing more.kdawg88

How does that stop them from making games on their own operating system?

I think Microsoft know exactly what they are doing with the gaming market. If you look at how the Xbox is doing worldwide it isn't "great" news for Microsoft. Sure the Xbox is still fairly dominant in the US but that is about it. The Xbox has quite literally died in Japan and in Europe (which is oddly known as Sony land) whilst it hasn't died it has now been overtaken by the PS3. This is why there has been an abrupt change in MS's attitude to Xbox exclusives coming to the PC.

Microsoft know and they are on record as saying that if they release a game on the xbox 360 and PC then they shoot themselves in the foot because apparently people would prefer the PC version over the xbox 360 version. This is obviously not the kind of thing they want in the PC's heartland which is Europe and Asia (oh look the two territories where the xbox is failing). So Microsoft quite literally see the PC as a direct competitor to them and they are now treating the PC as if it is another console.

Now you may think "but MS has such a strong stake in the PC with it's OS why would they do that ?" Well MS has a monopoly on the PC there is very little chance of MS losing that monopoly any time soon. In fact I would confidently say that if MS closed their operating system off to games completely it wouldn't even cause a blimp on sales of their OS (and they know it). The only reason why MS hasn't done it is because whilst they are not interested in PC gaming they don't want to give any other company the opportunity to give it a go.

Unfortunately this means any game that is exclusive to the xbox 360 and where Microsoft has a say in matters will now stay exclusive to the Xbox 360. In short MS will sell PC gaming down the river in order to gain any advantage it can get having this little scrap with Sony. It is kinda laughable to think that this year we will see more support from Sony on the PC platform than we will see from MS.

I agree with your point Charmers, but how do you know people prefer buying the PC version of games over the Xbox 360 version, especially if most people do not buy the PC version since their computer cannot run it at its fullest?

Ah you see it isn't me saying it :D it is microsoft themselves :-

"If we launch a game that is on 360 and PC simultaneously, we basically shoot ourselves in the foot by allowing the German market to choose to play the PC version -- because they are more likely to buy that than spend their money on the Xbox 360. Peter Zetterberg Microsoft Games Studio

The PC has a much wider use, it's so established, it's so dominating already so in some territories we need to make the games for the 360 to increase the sales there.Peter Zetterberg Microsoft Games Studio

If we launched a Halo game on PC and 360 in Germany simultaneously, 80 per cent of sales would be on the PC. So we need to pick and choose our formats.Peter Zetterberg Microsoft Games Studio

source

I think we have all been so bombarded with "PC gaming is dying" articles that we forget just how strong the PC is in some territories. In some European countries PC game sales beat console game sales easily. This obviously isn't good news if you are Microsoft and you are trying to get people to buy your console. So in true Microsoft fashion if people want to play PC games then that is easily solved they will just make sure that all the games they can secure for their console will stay on their console.

No magicalclick if you look at my quotes the guy clearly states "80 per cent of sales would be on the PC". Is it not possible for us to have a discussion about a topic on the PC without it being invaded by piracy talk yet again.

Comparisons of consoles and the PC or Mac go in System Wars, not here.
