I had a 5770 gpu and that wasnt cutting it a while back.. whats the minimum nowadays? What is it going to cost me to build something that can $hit on nowadays games and games coming out for the next 6 months or so? 60 for ram 150 for video card?? 100 for motherboard 50 for psu Is ~360 about right minus buying a case and hdd? Ill only need the res set to 1080p since ill be playing on my 40" led lcd, trying not to throw up

To put things into perspective, I can run Batman: Arkham Asylum at full settings @40FPS with a Core i3 530 @2.93 GHz and an EVGA GTS450 clocked at 783 MHz. If you want to play games like Battlefield 3, 4 GB of RAM is a must and I would suggest an NVidia GTX560Ti with a Core i3/i5 processor. All that should set you back (Including a hard drive, etc) around $500-$600. Hope this helps.

This is a troll post I believe, $50 for a CPU - what I'm getting out of this is I want a PC for the same price as as console and it's not going to happen. If you want a PC worth having it's going to cost you well over $360, if you built one for $360 even if it's good for today for tomorrow not so much. The benefit of PC gaming is MOST people already have a "modern" PC and all that would be required in order to play games at a high level is a graphics card which will cost you $150-$250 for a decent one.

I recommend spending $800. It's enough to get you good stuff without going over the top.

I'll second this, you don't need more, if you really want a more expensive component go up to $900, but $800 can already build you a great pc for gaming.

the biggest cost for pc gaming is the operating system and the monitor. Without those two things you could definitely cheap out and get a decent gaming pc for about $360. Hell when you buy a ps3 or xbox 360 do you factor in the cost of the tv as well?? Every pc out there will work fine on a HD TV. Either way even a cheap arse $350 pc build would look better than the best ps3/xbox 360 games bwahaha
