Mixing different ram brands ok?

Is it ok to be using different brands of ram and have them in dual channel?

Its not usually recommended. When troubleshooting any problem, its best to have two of the exact same ram in dual channel mode just so you know its probably not that. I can see how some ram might have slower or faster cas timings and that might somehow cause a conflitct? I dont know.

Yes. Now there is no guarantee that a non matched set of ram will run in dual channel, I would say there is a 99.9% chance they will work just fine though.

I have mixed different brands, sizes, and speeds and everytime, motherboard permitting, was able to run dual channel just fine.

A RAM with different timings can always be manually adjusted easily from the BIOS. So it isn't a big deal.

Mixing RAMs is fine.

could i put 2 kind of memory of rams ex: 256+512 together

or thats wrong?

and how could i put sdr and ddr1 should thier have the same memory?

i dont think that theres any motherboard which can support sdr and ddr1 in the same time. Each type has its own lay-out.
Or did i get your question wrongly ??

Right now im using 3 different ram brands to reach 2GB on my PC. It wasnt my choice but they are exactly the same type/timings(etc) so they work fine.
