Is it ok to be using different brands of ram and have them in dual channel?michael098
Yes. Now there is no guarantee that a non matched set of ram will run in dual channel, I would say there is a 99.9% chance they will work just fine though.
I have mixed different brands, sizes, and speeds and everytime, motherboard permitting, was able to run dual channel just fine.
Its not usually recommended. When troubleshooting any problem, its best to have two of the exact same ram in dual channel mode just so you know its probably not that. I can see how some ram might have slower or faster cas timings and that might somehow cause a conflitct? I dont know.Spartan8907
A RAM with different timings can always be manually adjusted easily from the BIOS. So it isn't a big deal.
Mixing RAMs is fine.
