Hi,

which mmorprg will i enjoy more if I LOVED Guild wars?
WoW or DDO? Im willing to pay money for both. WoW is more expensive of course.

Im a solo player mainly, but I made a few friends and joined a guild quite easily in Guildwars before.

I use 3G internet in the city, which is fairly fast for downloading, but I cant download too much for the game. My ping is good enough to play SC2 "decently online". My computer is fast though. Im a pretty casaul player. I dont want too much commitment into the games.

Thanks.

I said WOW OR DDO.moonwolf1

probably WoW DDO is very much based on things you didnt enjoy.. few lewt drop, few skills and complex abilitis tree's and elaborate maps.

WoW is very much simpler at a basic level as you get higher in the leveling ladder things get more complex

Disregard this, it is a horrible answer anyways. Personally WoW is a top-notch quality mmo that has an incredible following for a reason. I have played it as well as a plethora of other MMO's,(Including Guild Wars although it is a bit of a stretch to call it an MMO) and WoW remains supreme with its volume of content/flat-out fun you can have with the game.

If you enjoy going solo and you enjoyed guild Wars, youll have some issues with real MMOs (Guild Wars is instanced) Depending on the game, there will be other players either trying to kill you or stealing your kills and end-game content will most likely require you to play in a team.

He's a solo player and you recommend rift? Rift is all about working together.

WoW, and your comp should have absolutely no trouble with it. DDO is F2P right? These games are normally just a poor man's substitute for the P2P MMOs. I play LOTRO, also by Turbine, and though it's by far the best I've played in its class, I wish I could play WoW.

WoW is pretty good for solo play I woud recommend that, but it has a lot of patches so if you cant download more than 10GB ur a bit screwed.

What If i buy the battlechest? How much more will I have to download?

I liked guild war's story and atmosphere. Not much grind, and a lot of adventure/good skills. Not too competitive or time consuming.

DDO sounds like that, but it seems too complex and hard to get into.

WoW looks looks really appealing for some reason, though.

WoW. DDO is a pretty complex game and it is NOT in anyway a solo friendly game. The dungeons are designed so that you need something like a full team.

Why not start a World of Warcraft Trial Account if you're not sure?

Really, though, I think this question is a no-brainer. To quote Cartman, "Butters, go buy World of Warcraft, install it on your computer, and join the online sensation before we all murder you!"

When you do try it out, just be sure to select your server/realm carefully.

Happy gaming,

Boz

Well just a warning here but even if you buy every expansion including Cata for WoW you will still need to do some serious patching once it is all installed :( that is unfortunately just the way the game is now days. The battle chest should keep you busy for a while though if you do decide to pick it up.

How much will I have to download if I buy the Battlechest?

I realise this game may be 17 GB big. But I can't download too much (4-5 GB Patch would be 'ok').

I would try out the Trial account give week of game time and level cap of 20 play around with different classes and check out the game see if you like it our not. The trial account lets you start playing in matter of minutes cause game download while your playing.

I would look for buddy maybe run with the Recruit a Friend but then again the 1-60 now is really amazing so that kinda iffy. I've been playing WoW for around 6 years now and it starting go down hill for me but someone that totally new to the game might just be the most amazing thing you ever played.

I would also take look at Rift it really good game and just came out lot of postive things bout this game over WoW.

Also blizzard has maintence today so server, bnet and account registration will be down till around 2pm pst.

Rift is a very fun game and even solo players can very easily join public groups to complete quests, but LOTRO is a good game for just solo players, plus it's free-to-play so you can try it out and see what you think.

WoW is about 23 GB fully installed, and getting larger all the time. I believe you can install the majority of that from disc, but even with a broadband connection you'll probably have to let it download and install overnight. Boz

Stop detracting from the thread and advertising random stuff.

Thanks for further confusing me with the download info.

Im getting the battlechest.

Hopefully I won't have to download much. I know it's a big game. The disc should cover a bit.

So many posts, yet my answer isnt 100% answerred. You guys...

What wasn't answered? You wanted to know which you might enjoy more if you loved Guild Wars; the response was overwhelmingly in favor of World of Warcraft. In fact, rzepak said quite clearly, "WoW. DDO is a pretty complex game and it is NOT in anyway a solo friendly game. The dungeons are designed so that you need something like a full team." You asked for the download size, and I let you know the size of the game for World of Warcraft.

Not only were your questions answered, but you could answer these questions yourself without posting in the forums with a little research. Installation requirements are clearly provided by publishers of both games on their respective sites. Reviews are easily available for both games right here on Gamespot.

You are being very ungrateful considering the number of people that responded to this question. Certainly users are always going to respond with random suggestions; in this case they're not really off-topic, they're just MMO titles you might want to consider. Personally I'd be happy if someone made a suggestion for a title of which I might not have potentially heard already.

Happy gaming,

Boz

This. The download is decently big and its the same company as DDO. Only difference is LotR Online is made for solo play.

Read your thread title. Now think for a second, what kind of responses will that get you? Recoemmendations on an MMO for you. So if you don't like it make a better title next time.
