I have played many MMOs such as WoW or everquest and none of these ever attract me or make me addicted as it does with my friends and family. I find my self bored when I play WoW and I have the feeling to want to do something fun in the game it just doesn't happen. I love the idea of a huge fantasy themed world where I get to be my own person and Lvl up and get stronger I just can't get into it. now my WoW account is going unused for about a week now and I feel bad because I am Saying 15$ a month to play it and I just can't bring myself to play it. so I need some advice from the gamers and MMO lovers like me.

Opinions? thanks in advance

First thing I'd say is to pick up Guild Wars. It's fun MMO-ish (though it can get boring in PvE) and completely free, so you'll get your huge fantasy world to explore and never feel guilty about leaving it alone for a week/month(s).

Secondly, burnout is expected for most gamers with any game. I truly do not understand those people who can play a single game for a couple years straight.

Third, even though you may not be getting the most out of your money, you're still getting a great deal. As long as you play 5 hours this month you'll still get more bang for your buck (time-wise) than movies or any other form of modern entertainment. But at the same time, the subscription fees equate to a new PC game every 3-4 months. WoW really is still the best out there, but Warhammer: Age of Reckoning is looking extremely promising.

You could always give LotR: Online a shot too.

GW is definitely something you can let go for a month or two and come back to. Though, I've played it constantly for the past year it's starting to lose what I originally played it for. It seems that no one is doing the missions or having fun.

LOTRO. Ignore the posts suggesting GW, just by what you have stated that you enjoy in MMOs... you can get to max level in less than 2 weeks so you really lose out on the whole leveling and getting more powerful feel. Plus, it isn't an MMO. If you can get over the lack of PVE content and the short max level window, the PVP is actually pretty fun for at least a little while.

Try Cabal Online. That's a good game where lvl150 is max. Levelin is easy in Cabal online and there are good PvP system... There is a whole channel for PvP. Go to www.cabalonline.com for more information :) and if you start playing... Go to Mars server and pm Villain :D

It's because you aren't an MMO lover. Modern MMORPGs are lifeless, stale, systematic, and boring. Play real games instead. I used to feel the same as you but then I got into games such as Morrowind, Mount and Blade, and action games.

LOTRO is a good MMO but I'm not sure if you will enjoy it if you didn't enjoy WoW and EQ either. You will enjoy it if you love Tolkien's work.

EVE is awesome. You should really check it out.

Why do so many people hate on GW? It's a great game that lots of people enjoy and are smart enough to save their money for new games instead of wasting it on a monthly fee. Sorry to say, but if I was going to pay $15 a month, the game and expansions should be free.

That's why SWG had it right by only charging $5 a month to play. At least that was reasonable. WoW has so many users it's unreal. They could spare the change to drop the monthly fee by quite a few dollars. I mean, if you think about it that's $200+ you spend on monthly fee's and the expansion for that year that could be spent better on lots of other games, and other things for that matter.

Why are so many people so cheap that $15/month actually means something to them? I mean, if they were smart they would get a decent job or stop wasting money playing video games and go to college so they can get a decent job.

Wow... $15... that'll get you a 90 minute movie and a large Coke, but no popcorn

Im an experienced MMO player and Have played WOW, COH/COV, and everquest 2. Looking forward to WAR. I havent played an MMO since march and have since canceled my accounts.

While WOW is a great game in general it is addictive!!!!!!!! You're addicted If;

1. You skip work or school to play the game. On top of that you'll adjust your schedule for more playing time.

2. Mostly the only topic of conversation to your friends. If you dont have friends who play you seek new ppl out to talk about the game.

3. You play more than 5 hours a day!

4. You neglect your family or home duties and never realize it.

5. You neglect yourself........

All of these happened to me except the 2nd sentance of #2. I was playing more than 8+ even up to 16 a day. My family life suffered and i even had an affair with a lady online who came to see me for several weeks when i was separated from my wife thinking we were going to get married.

I know what you are thinking. It's my Fault.....and it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats why i dont play right now. The game i was addicted to was WOW. I was always able to put down COH/COV and Everquest 2 after 2 hours. WOW's gameplay and needing to go back into instances for 1 item over 20 times made want try harder to obtain items. Thanks to vent the constant ppl interraction didnt help either. i

I have sinced reconciled with my spouse and have had more time for other things.

However, even with that said, burning crusade ruined WOW for me. my perception is that it made lower lvl instances worthless and seem make items too powerful instead of going with a natural flow of progression like from lvl 1-60.

Folks.... please take what i say to heart and no stupid juvenile comments. If you are addicted, back off and take a look at what you're doing. Come back when you feel you can limit yourself.

Yeah, I think you should spend more time with real people instead. It is a whole lot more rewarding.

May I remind that WoW is not the only MMO? Most MMO's have free expacks. And $15 is almost nothing. Just think how much you get with it.
