So im very hesitant in buying MW2 on PC due to the lack of community. I wanted to play competitively with clans with leagues and Ive heard that its going to be dead on PC version. I really dont feel like buying a 200$ xbox to play with alot more people, but if I have to, I will. SO the question is, do you think MW2 on PC will have a competitive aspect like COD4 did, or am I better off with going console? Thank you

I've seen plenty of clans around so far in mw2. I suppose you would have to go to their websites and such to find out if they are actually having matches though.

IW had a thread with over 50 pages of clans massively deserting and discarding MW 2 as a game to play -most of them were ready to hire new servers to play the game before the big bad news arrived..-. The thread was deleted by IW.

The chances of MW 2 to last and to build solid mp communities and clans are close to 0. COD 4 is the second most played game online just behind WoW because it has more than 14.000 servers, pro mods, console commands and tools to fully customize your servers, plus support up to 64 players per match.

So make your numbers about "the lots of clans" that can survive in a mp with p2p hosting with private matches based in friend list ant with the cap limit of 18 players (or 12) at time. And think about the chances of tournaments in a online game in which the host has a big ping advantage over the clients.

If you are mainly concerned about competitive leagues, there are a number of factors weighing against it that makes this game less attractive:

- No dedicated servers - it relies on listen servers (player hosting) which means there is higher latency
- No mod support (so no ability to use ProMod)
- No /record function in-game (and indeed, no access to the console)
- Match Host has a zero ping advantage
- No ability to choose the match host, and no localised host search (you can't 'fake' a dedicated server)
- Hacks such as Wallhacks and Aimbots are already available, and VAC will not ban them for weeks
- LAN play still requires each player to connect to a STEAM account

This game was not designed for competitive play, and unless something changes, I can't see any of the clan Leagues adopting it.

Clans have been around on consoles for years even though they are p2p based connections. I'm sure MW2 will still have plenty of clans available.

This game will have no competitiveness I don't care what any of the mw2 lovers say this game was born to fail multiplayer wise. Just stick with cod4 its what most good clans are doing ^^.

What do you mean you've seen them in the game? But you dont know if they're having matches?

I have seen numerous clans in pub games. I meant I do not know if they are having matches properly between other clans or have just migrated from cod4 to play pubs.
